Hello All,
So baby is three days old and we've just decided on a name, but are now struggling with the spelling!
Any insights/considerations?

I love the way Ruben sounds, but not sure which spelling to go for,

Ruben
Reuben
Rueben

Reuben - that's the Biblical spelling, the best known and the one most likely to be perceived as normal/correct.

Reuben - though DS has a Rubén in his class at school.

Rueben is just wrong.

Reuben is the usual spelling.

Ruben is ok but risks being mispronounced or muddled with other names.

So ... Reuben!

Congratulations on your lovely newborn! BearFlowers Do give him a good head-sniff from me Grin

I'd say Reuben is the most obvious spelling and therefore I'd use that. Congratulations!!

Agree with Reuben. He won't have to tell everyone how to spell his name if you use that one.

Congratulations!! Reuben - it's an Old Testament name and that's how it's spelt - why change it. Lovely boys name.

Reuben. I have never seen the other spellings before so I think if you used them people might misspell a lot.

Reuben because that's the usual English spelling.

Rueben is a misspelling.

Ruben is the Hispanic spelling.

It'll get misspelled whichever you choose, so I'd go for whichever you prefer.

Except that, as shown by this thread, 99% of people would spell it Reuben (the correct way). So it'll get misspelled much more if you spell it any other way.
