Thoughts on it?

RortyCrankle Thu 15-Sep-16 15:39:27

As a child's name? No it's awful grin

RiverTam Thu 15-Sep-16 15:40:59

I wouldn't myself.

CourtJester Thu 15-Sep-16 15:46:02

It's a cat

originalmavis Thu 15-Sep-16 15:49:48

Sounds like a character from a 70s American cop show. She is friends with Sherry, Brandi and Candy.

BitOutOfPractice Thu 15-Sep-16 15:50:30

Well Ginger Rogers was verrrrrrry cool

I wouldn't though, partly because if the cat name thing, partly because of the cockney rhyming slang thing, and partly because it's just a bit too quirky for me

sonlypuppyfat Thu 15-Sep-16 15:50:56

It's a cats name, what are you thinking

villainousbroodmare Thu 15-Sep-16 15:51:44

It's a nickname.

I'm going against the grain here

I quite like it for a girl.
but I'm 25weeks pg so probably crazy

WeatherShine Thu 15-Sep-16 15:53:53

It's my hormones, I tell ya! grin I just thought it sounded pretty, but mysterious.

originalmavis Thu 15-Sep-16 15:53:56

Ginger Rogers wasnt christened ginger though.

originalmavis Thu 15-Sep-16 15:54:31

Hmmmmm. spice girl.

LineyReborn Thu 15-Sep-16 15:57:38

Pretty but mysterious is many things but not that.

Mybeardeddragonjustdied2016 Thu 15-Sep-16 15:58:39

We had a chicken called Ginger!!

HandmaidsTail Thu 15-Sep-16 15:58:40

Sounds a bit Strippery.

LadyMonicaBaddingham Thu 15-Sep-16 16:01:33

'Ginger' Rogers was actually named Virginia.

I'm usually an extremely diplomatic poster, would dress answers up in cotton wool, but there are some questions that require a more direct approach and I'm afraid this is one of them!!!!!.......

PLEASE do not call any child Ginger. It rhymes with certain lady parts, it's a pet's name, it's a derogatory term (sorry to the redheads, but yes, it is usually used in an unkind manner) and many, many other reasons.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Thu 15-Sep-16 17:49:34

It is indeed a derogatory term, just ask my Son !
No insult is complete, without the word "ginger", thrown in.
How about "Red", or Redmond.
For a girl,
OP, please, not Ginger !

ErrolTheDragon Thu 15-Sep-16 17:52:47

I had a cat called Ginger.

Honeybee79 Thu 15-Sep-16 20:58:23

I wouldn't. Makes me think of the character Ginger in Casino.

katemess12 Thu 15-Sep-16 21:41:44

Ginger Rogers was cool, but the name is not.

My first thought is the big ugly misshapen spice (tastes lovely though). So, eh, not a good image.

If you have twins the other could be garlic.
