Sister for Frida

DD1 is Frida (which we know is a bit of a marmite name, but we love it and it suits her very well).

DD2 due any day and we can't quite find something we like as much.

Current front-runners are:
Dorothy (Dora for short, probably)
Nell (just Nell, not short for anything)
We both like Aphra but think it sounds too much like Frida? Possibly as a middle name.
Ivy was near the top of the list but DP went right off it when he saw how popular it was getting.

I also like Edme - a family name and I haven't heard of any others, but think she will basically just get called Esme all the time.

Any thoughts on the above or other ideas. We quite like granny-ish names, as you might be able to tell...

I'm not keen on Nell.

Dorothy is okay and Dora is a cute nickname.

Dorothy/Dora and Nell are both sweet.

How about Greta? Margot? Bridget? Ingrid? Maeve?

I opened the thread to say Dorothy! I also like Nell.

Edme will as you say be misread as Esme (autocorrect tried to change it as well!) it also makes me thing of those edamame beans!

Nell. It's perfect.
I quite like the name Della since I came across it in a film but I would avoid a name or nickname ending with the same 'a' sound as her sister. Just my own personal preference.

I know sisters named Hayley and Bailey. Some think it's twee cute but no, just no.

DS would have been Frida if he'd been a girl. Of your list I really love Aphra, I actually work with one at the moment and she's fab.

Other names we thought about: Ingrid, Elsa, Erika, Gudrun, Ola, Freya, Birgitta, Greta, Sigrid.

Oooh, loads of suggestions and some Dorothy and Nell love!

Frida is pronounced Free-dah, the same as with the 'e'.

Greta, Nora and Agnes I also like but have friends who have recently used them. I LOVE Astrid, but DP is not so keen (thinks sounds too 'themed Scandi'). He also has the thing that ample has where he doesn't like the ends of the name to be the same.

Think definitely now on the list are Ida, Edith, Mabel and Clara. Might still roll with Dorothy or Nell though.

Thanks for all the fab suggestions.
