This is our shortlist. What do people prefer? How would you rank each name?

Dora, Mila, Nina, Kara, Thea, Willa

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Tue 30-Aug-16 23:16:10

In order of preference I like
1 Nina
3 Willa
6 Thea. I have an irrational hatered for this name. It makes me think of thawed out food.
Yes I am a very strange person

AnyTheWiser Tue 30-Aug-16 23:17:38

I like Nina and Thea best.
What about Vita too?

WitchesGlove Tue 30-Aug-16 23:18:59

I like Mila and Thea

OvO Tue 30-Aug-16 23:20:05

I love Thea, think it's a beautiful name.

I'd go:

Though I'm really not fond of Dora at all. The others are all pretty.

ProfessorPickles Tue 30-Aug-16 23:20:55

Nina or Mila for me OP

DramaAlpaca Tue 30-Aug-16 23:21:23

My favourite is Nina.

Mila is unusual and pretty, and Kara is nice too.

Not keen on the others.

Pipsqueak11 Tue 30-Aug-16 23:22:21

all nice but less keen on Willa

FrancisCrawford Tue 30-Aug-16 23:25:17

I love Cara - spelt with a C as it is Italian for dear or darling. With a K reminds me of a Kardashian name.

The others would be roughly equal, except for Dora. Dora is deadly dull!

elly79 Tue 30-Aug-16 23:27:15

I have a Thea so I'm biased. I love it as it is easy to spell for her and short and sweet. Downside is that people (very) occasino ally pronounce it 'Taya' or 'tia'.
I love all your other choices - we clearly have similar taste!! Kara would be my least fave though as people will think it's after cara delevigne or tointon maybe?!
This is the best bit i think!

RitesOfSpring Tue 30-Aug-16 23:31:56

I really dislike most of those names tbh.

I'll give each one a rating out of 10, with 10 being love and 0 being hate:

Kara - 3/10
Mila - 2/10
Nina - 1/10
Thea - 1/10
Dora - 0/10
Willa - 0/10

PenguinsAreAce Tue 30-Aug-16 23:35:09

Is Mila pronounced Meela or Milla? I know one the latter, constantly pronounced the former.

1. Thea
2. Nina

PenguinsAreAce Tue 30-Aug-16 23:36:18

3. Dora (the explorer) if you must.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Tue 30-Aug-16 23:43:37

If I did like the name Dora. The Dora the explora connection would not be a deal breaker for me, after all. There are plenty of
Thomas, Edwards, Henrys, Tobys and Emilys. To mention just a few, running around. All Thomas and Friend Characters.
People have not been put off by these names.

Sophronia Wed 31-Aug-16 00:11:31

Nina or Willa

cornishglos Wed 31-Aug-16 00:15:13

I only like Cara.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 31-Aug-16 00:20:29

Love Dora

Also like Willa and Cara with a C.

Lollyp333 Wed 31-Aug-16 00:22:08

Apart from Thea, all horrible

Pemba Wed 31-Aug-16 03:46:21

1. Mila or Nina are both gorgeous.

3. Kara, like this.
4. Dora is quite nice, a little bit Victorian doll, or 'the Explorer' though.
5. Thea is OK, but maybe a bit meh.

6. Willa - don't like that at all.

Janus Wed 31-Aug-16 05:22:35

Again, how is Mila pronounced? Meela is pretty, not so much pronounced as Millar.
Willa? Never heard of that but not keen.
Nina is ok.
Dora, everyone will think of Dora the Explorer I think.
Thea is Ok.
Kara, sorry sounds a bit chav? But would prefer Cara as the spelling.
You seem to like names with an ending 'a'. How about Lula? Sounds pretty to me?!

fruitboxjury Wed 31-Aug-16 05:30:08

Wills, Thea and Dora are awful in my mind, really horrible names, especially willa. Sorry.

The others are ok, none of them really stand out to me but I guess kara or Nina. Mila would subject her to a lifetime of is it mee-la or my-la?

Other names that sound like you might like are

Luna, Emma, Laura, Cora, Isla, Mia, Priya,

Janus Wed 31-Aug-16 05:49:23

Oh yes, Isla is beautiful.

Caldini22 Wed 31-Aug-16 07:21:24

Like Nina and Mila a lot. Not keen on the others - although I like Cara with a C.

BleakBetty Wed 31-Aug-16 07:26:53

Cara (with a C to avoid Kardashian association as a PP said!) and a Nina.

Would've liked Thea but I knew someone horrible with that name.

Don't like Mila 'cause it reminds me of 'milia', those little zit things.
