Airi or Mika?

Raines100 Fri 19-Aug-16 09:19:16

Japanese girls names, yes? Can I double check pronunciation? Is it Air-ee and Mee-ka?
I think both are really pretty. I can't choose between them! They'd make a lovely sibset.
Um... no, I can't decide. Both lovely. Sorry, that's totally unhelpful grin

Do you have a cultural connection to the names?

Ricecreespees Fri 19-Aug-16 09:21:52

Hmm hard one they're both beautiful!! I agree they'd be great as siblings. If I had to choose I think I'd choose Airi just because it's a slightly nicer sound and prettier spelling. You have very good tastewink X

RebelandaStunner Fri 19-Aug-16 09:22:35

Mika is really lovely.
I wouldn't know how to pronounce the other and think you would be forever repeating it/spelling it out.

Lilacpink40 Fri 19-Aug-16 09:23:06

I prefer Mee-ka. Both are pretty.

KylieJo Fri 19-Aug-16 09:32:06

I too think Mika is more easily recognised by foreign audience.

Zermatt Fri 19-Aug-16 11:22:37

Thanks smile yes we have a cultural connection, finding it very hard to pick between the two!

KoalaDownUnder Fri 19-Aug-16 11:25:15

Hmm. Is it pronounced AIR-ee or I-ree?

YouSay Fri 19-Aug-16 11:27:37

Mika - lovely name

BummyMummy77 Fri 19-Aug-16 11:29:24

Like them both. Definitely heard Mika more.

allthecarbs Fri 19-Aug-16 11:31:07

Mika because it's a lovely name and is easy to pronounce for English people. I'm assuming you live in the UK.

MistyPrivates Fri 19-Aug-16 11:56:36

Mika is lovely and I feel like it would suit many different personalities smile

LuckySantangelo1 Fri 19-Aug-16 13:01:10

Mika! Beautiful name.

GoldPlatedBacon Fri 19-Aug-16 13:08:41

Just wait and see what suits your dc. No need to have it fixed in stone before then

DerelictMyBalls Fri 19-Aug-16 15:13:03

Both lovely, IMO. For a boy or a girl. I suspect that Mika would be more universally pronounceable.

DerelictMyBalls Fri 19-Aug-16 15:13:28

Sorry - that was supposed to be: For a boy or a girl ?

katiegg Fri 19-Aug-16 15:14:15

Mika smile
