We found out this week that baby number 4 is a girl smile already have dd, ds1 & ds2 so we're evened up a bit now!
What does everyone think of Rosalie? My only concern is that she'd get Rosie for short which I'm not too keen on, but I love Rose. We're Scottish if that helps imagining the accent 😂

Conjures up an image of a fortune telling traveler/gypsy for me. Sorry! Congrats though smile

Gorgeous, floral and traditional but with slightly hippy/boho undertones. Feminine but not overly frilly. Works for woman and girl.

I love it smile

😂 ha that made me laugh SlinkyB I'm into a bit of woo and stuff so not such a bad connotation. Thanks smile

Skiver123 Thu 11-Aug-16 20:10:46

Reminds me of a cleaner on American TV. They're always called Rosa 😂

SlinkyB Thu 11-Aug-16 20:27:10

Glad I didn't offend! Seriously though, if you're not keen on Rosie then I'd steer clear, just in case.

Though I have a perfectly shorten-able (yes, that's a word now) ten letter name which has never been shortened, thanks to my scary Mum who wouldn't allow it!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Thu 11-Aug-16 20:39:03

Nice name, but. If you don't like Rosie. Avoid

MrsGsnow18 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:14:51

There was a Rosalie in Twilight and they called her Rose for short so it def works as a NN.

CurlyMoo Thu 11-Aug-16 21:15:02

There is a Cath Kidston type bedding range in Ikea called Rosalie that I love, so the name is a hit for me I might add it to my list for unlikely future babies

MrsGsnow18 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:15:04

Also awesome Thin Lizzy song!

RiverTam Thu 11-Aug-16 21:15:48

Rosalie is a lovely name. Of course you can use it without liking Rosie.

CurlyMoo Thu 11-Aug-16 21:15:55

Although is people tended to pronounce it Rosa-Lee I wouldn't like it.

Christine88 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:17:20

Such a pretty name!

123beanie Thu 11-Aug-16 21:17:26

Love it!!

Christine88 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:19:26

Also on the shortening names bit I loved the name Vincent but hate vince or vinnie so we avoided it. Wish we hadn't as we went for Rupert thinking it wouldn't be shortened and people are constantly calling him Roo or Roops....which I hate!!!

Ditsy4 Thu 11-Aug-16 21:21:13

I know someone called Rosalie. I think it's a pretty name. She never gets it shortened.

jammh Thu 11-Aug-16 21:21:54

It was on my list but Dp was not keen. I love it and would have shortened it to rosa or rose.

Northernlurker Thu 11-Aug-16 21:26:12

I like it. I have a Rosalind and NOBODY calls her Rosie.
We do call her Rozzie though but it's a very different sound.

weechops Thu 11-Aug-16 21:26:47

Thanks everyone. I think it's the one really. On the shorten-ability (!) One of my boys is a Zachary and he's never been shortened to Zac. Yet. He's not at school yet smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Thu 11-Aug-16 23:48:58

What if she wants to be known as Rosie, though. Would you be okay with that. Well you couldn't stop her really. It's her name.

ImperialBlether Thu 11-Aug-16 23:56:10

Rosie is a lovely name! And she will be called it, you know that.

weechops Fri 12-Aug-16 06:15:57

Yeah I'd be ok with that. I don't hate Rosie, just prefer Rose if it had to have a shortening. But my toddler Zachary (who is the only one who actually calls himself Zac) has been cooing 'awww baby Rosie' and it sounds super cute!

SeashellHoarder Fri 12-Aug-16 07:50:10

Lovely name. I think you will get Rosie, but I love that too!

Frazzled2207 Fri 12-Aug-16 08:02:57

Nice. The only one I know goes by Rosie though. I also know two Rosas, both of which are Rosa not Rosie.
