Long time lurker and going around in circles with these names, with two weeks to go - help!
We already have a Rafe.

Arlo
Otis
Rudy
Fox
Otto
Scout (aware this is slightly silly)
Wilfred
Arthur

OH likes Arlo best but I am hearing it constantly lately and don't want something super popular.

Thanks!

Otis or Arthur go best with Rafe I think. They are also lovely names. Smile

I like Otto.

I like Fox but not sure of the reality of a little boy/man called Fox.

Wolf (Wolfgang or Wulfric)?

Otis sounds really cool with Rafe.

I like Arlo, Otis and Arthur.
And Scout does sound silly, sorry.

Otis, Otto or Rudy.

How about Rex, Rory or Jude?

Wilfred is on my shortlist - love it (gives child lots of options for shortening - Wilf, Will, Fred, Freddie). Also love Arlo but a family member has already used it.

Also on our list are Edwin, Orson and Eli.

Otto, Rudy or Fox. I wish I was brave enough to use them - I think they're fab!

I think my favourite combo is Rafe and Rudy, but you might not want the same initial.

I think Scout is most commonly associated as a girls name. From your list I like Arthur best

Can I ask what reactions you get to Rafe? It's currently our too choice for baby boy due any day but DH keeps changing his mind and saying it might be better to go with something more classic (prob Samuel)

Thanks all - helpful!
I think I've looked at them all for so long I've lost it Smile
Aprilshowers16 I love Rafe and he's such a cool little thing. Lots of people have never heard of it and some have heard of Ralph Fiennes/Rafe Spall connection. Some want to pronounce it Rafi but I haven't heard anything negative (not to my face anyway!)
I've heard it mentioned on name boards more lately but I've only met one other little boy in real life.

I know a Fox - now in his early 20s. The original TV series of The X Files (Fox Mulder) had a lot to do with it. I see Scout as a girl's name, too (from To Kill A Mockingbird) but I think it's nice as a boy's name as well. I like Wilfred and Arthur from your list too.

Love Otis, goes well with Rafe.
Also like Arthur and Wilfred.
Arlo reminds me of Harlow in Essex. I would also assume Scout was a girl.

I'm afraid I'm of an age to think otis the aardvark from children's TV. I like Rory suggested upthread and Arthur.

Otis and Orson go really well with Rafe!

Arlo, Arthur or Rudy for me I think! I tend to like the classics though so would never dream of going for Fox or Scout. I feel your pain op, we have a baby boy due next month and naming is super tricky!

Rafe is very cool. Wilfred just can't compete with that at all. He would feel hard done by. Rafe and Rudy or Rafe and Arlo... just because Arthur is almost a different style/feel of name. BUT, it's still a strong choice. If he looked kind of serious and grand I would go for Arthur over any other name.

Thanks all for the input - it's such a big decision for me and I do find boys names so tricky. I do love the sound of Arlo, though as it's becoming more popular and as its quite a new name its at the risk of being trendy, as opposed to Arthur which is super popular atm but couldn't really sound faddy as its more classical, I guess.
I really like Otis. I really really like Rudy, but could it sound chavvy to have a Rafe and a Rudy?! Argh! I think I need to wait until he arrives Confused

Thanks for the suggestions given, I like Rex and Jude but know friends who have already used them. I think Jude is a bit similar to Arlo atm in terms of having a popular moment.

We had so many of these on our boy list. Otis nn. Otto, then Arthur, then Wilfred. Rafe and Otto is perfect! I'd put Arlo in 4th place but I know soo many of them have been put off slightly.

Love Rafe!
Of your list, I think Arlo goes best and is nicest.
Scout is a girl's name, Otis was an aardvark when I was a kid, Otto and Wilfred and Arthur aren't my thing- Saxons and Viking with beards and horned helmets.
Quite like Fox, but you'd have to be brave.
Rudy- this sounds very 1950s American to me. Not sure it crosses the pond too well.
Rafe Spall was name for a character in The Knight of the Burning Pestle. Another character was Jasper.
Tadhg (pronounced like the first syllable of tiger, I believe) Raul, Orson, Conan, Rory/Ruairi??

Thanks for the input all - not really any closer to a decision so I think we may have to wait until he's here and start panicking Grin
