So I have a list of girls and boys names for #2 (I already have a Charlie). Girl names are trickier for me so any other girl names I might like that aren't here? (No favourites at the moment tbh) Thanks!

Rosalie

Madeleine
Kate
Rosalind
Mirren
Mhairi
Bethany
Zara
Caroline
Robyn

Isn't Mirren a surname, though? As in Helen Mirren? I wasn't aware of it becoming a first name?

From your list I love Rosalind and Caroline, and especially Madeleine. I would avoid Isla just because it's so popular at the moment.

Pemba I'm in Scotland and Mirren is a first name, although quite a rare one. I've come across a few Mirrens. Thanks for the suggestions! A few of them have been veto-ed by DH actually! And surname starts with E so not keen on first name starting with E which rules out a few....

Would you pronounce Rosalie 'Rose - alie' as opposed to 'Roz - alie'? That's the one thing putting me off that name, the thought of it being incorrectly pronounced all the time!

I would say Rose-ah-lee.

Heatherbell oh sorry, I didn't know that about 'Mirren'. That's interesting. I wonder what the meaning of the name is, etc.

Bethany
Heidi
Holly

Do you like Hazel?

Bellyrub1980 · 16/07/2016 15:40

Although I'd pick the traditional English spelling Madeline

From your list: Madeleine, (pronounced LINE not LYN), Kate, Mirren, Isla, Heidi and Holly.

What about... Charlotte, Lydia, Caitlin

I was thinking the other day how lovely and unused Bethany is.

Heidi and Zara both on our list. Like Kate and Holly too! Although Kate now reminds me of fucking Kate & Mim-Mim, most irritating show in the universe.

In Scotland Mirren is often used as a form of Mary Ann, Marian or Mairi Anna... it's an old name but has become more popular recently, some say since its use in the film Braveheart (though it was spelled "Murron" which I've seen used as well Smile )

Aah Kate and Mim Mim....never thought of that! Not so keen on Hazel and I know a few Charlottes. I like Anais but DH and I really struggle to see eye to eye on names and he's not into anything too girly. Kate is his favourite which I really like and would suit our long surname but I like the thought of something slightly more unusual (but classic at the same time). Rosalie Mirren would be nice but DH not sure on Mirren......with DS1 it was so easy, we had a boy name agreed before he was conceived!!

I really love Rosalie as well and would have added it to our list for our baby girl we are expecting in Dec, but, I think a lot of people wouldn't pronounce it how I'd like (not even sure how it's meant to be pronounced myself!) But I like it as a pp has commented rose-ah-lee.

Quite a few of the names you've listed are lovely too though.
