Opinions please
Also Terence, Kenneth as similar

FrancisdeSales Thu 07-Jul-16 22:26:17

No to Kenneth/Ken

Yes to Larry and Terry.

Liz09 Thu 07-Jul-16 22:41:26

I like Laurence. smile

Not a fan of Kenneth, and not a fan of Terrence. Terrence/Terry is very popular here among older men, but it doesn't have the same vintage chicness that some of the other older names have.

Laurence is lovely.

Terence and Kenneth - I'm immediately reminded of the thread that's running on Klaus where I said it was the German equivalent of Derek or Geoffrey. I might now add 'or Terence or Kenneth'. Grandad names without grandad chic. And nothing like Laurence! IMO.

Dontrocktheboat Thu 07-Jul-16 22:46:33

I like Laurence, also like nickname Laurie.

Really dislike Terence and not keen on Kenneth either.

DramaAlpaca Thu 07-Jul-16 22:49:19

I like Laurence a lot.

I dislike Terence and Kenneth and don't think they are in the same vein as Laurence at all.

Ham69 Thu 07-Jul-16 22:49:54

Stick with Laurence (Laurie)

NapQueen Thu 07-Jul-16 22:51:55

Lawrence (rather than Laurence) was on my list.

My dad is Terry so it's too old man for my liking.

Kenneth again similar. Too old but not old enough to be coming back around.

Aside from Lawrence they are all in the "Brian Alan Keith" genre.

use a w smile

Laurence always looks like it should be a girls name to me (I went to a French primary school, where is was).

Lawrence is better.

Kenneth and Terence are old bloke names that have not become chic yet!

ironrooster Thu 07-Jul-16 23:01:04

Prefer Lawrence too.

Sophronia Thu 07-Jul-16 23:53:33

I love Laurence and Laurie for short, prefer this spelling to Lawrence.

Terence is ok, and I like Kenneth and Kenny.

Lilacpink40 Thu 07-Jul-16 23:56:28

Another stick with Laurence vote!

RandomName9 Thu 07-Jul-16 23:57:50

My brothers middle name is Kenneth (he is 23!!!) It is horrendous & he hates it!!! 😂
I like Lawrence though.

Porcupinetree Fri 08-Jul-16 05:47:08

I think they all sound old blokes names to be honest.

Tellmewhyohwhy Fri 08-Jul-16 05:55:19

Really awful, all three. Lawrence is just about passable but the one I know calls himself Loz as he hates it and it doesn't suit him.

VioletBam Fri 08-Jul-16 05:57:08

Lawrence is a much better and older spelling. I love it.

VioletBam Fri 08-Jul-16 05:57:34

Hate Kenneth love Terry.

HoratioNightboy Fri 08-Jul-16 13:10:32

Ooh, not much love for Kenneth. sad

It's my favourite of the three; a very strong, manly name. Also regal, being the name of three Scottish kings.

I've never been keen on any names ending in -ence. They all seem a bit 'wet' to me. Sorry.

I've only ever met one Lawrence who was known as Lala. I could never bring myself to say it.

SunnyL Fri 08-Jul-16 13:22:21

Lawrence is my nephew and I still don't like it.

sonlypuppyfat Fri 08-Jul-16 13:24:08

I had an Uncle Lol its not a nice name

OliveV Fri 08-Jul-16 13:54:57

I don't like any sad

Grumpysfirstwife Fri 08-Jul-16 14:00:13

Love Laurence, but I would because I used it for one of my sons names. grin

plimsolls Fri 08-Jul-16 19:28:39

Oh I LOVE Laurence. Still kind of considering it for ours if it's a boy. Laurie is just such a great name and I can imagine it suiting all sorts of personalities.

2ManySweets Fri 08-Jul-16 19:33:30

Use a "u" for a Euro-feel (NOTE: it can be a girls name in France when spelled like this but I think it's so chic).

Love it x
