It's the first cut of the shortlist for DC2, no H names as will have H surname. Any new suggestions welcome (particularly for boys, I'm really struggling):

Thank you so much for your help!!

From the girls I love Flora. It is simple but still feminine and pretty. Plus I like it when a name has a good namesake!smile I really like Zara as well. Well, I actually like pretty much evertything your list. The only girls' name I personally don't like is the name Imogen. It doesn't sound nice (IMO) and there seem to be so manny little Imogens currently...

My absolutely favourite boy name on your list (and one of my favourites in general) is Blair. I also really like Blaise and Laurence. I personally do not like Jude. I know how it's pronounced in English, but my first language is a form of German (but I'm not from Germany) and I just looks so so weird to me as a name... Sorry.

Girls names I love Imogen. It doesn't seem very common where I live at all which is maybe why I like it. It also reminds me of my favourite Jilly Cooper novel. smile I agree that Flora is also pretty name though.
Boys, I love Struan and Elliot.

Zara and lois, Jude and Struan - really love that

I I used to nanny an Imogen but she was always called Immi, she was tiny so she suited Immi not Imogen,I'm not keen on the sound actually . Your other girl names are ok.

I don't like the sound of the name Struan is it English? Maybe pronounced differently? Or Blair, named after a very unpopular prime minister!!?? Jude is short for Judith I thought, or Julian I suppose.

Shesinfashion Fri 01-Jul-16 14:57:28

Flora just makes me think of tasteless margarine.

MadameJosephine Fri 01-Jul-16 15:00:17

My favourites are Claudia and Elliot

Flora makes me think of Flora MacDonald and the Roman Goddesssmile
I would love to use Flora for DD, but unfortunately can't. Plus DD will get DH's name (which is a name thats very obviously originally Scottish), so....

Struan is nice. I personlly prefer Blair, but Struan is lovely!

My favourites of the girls' names are Claudia and Matilda. Only like one of the boys' names, Laurence.

PS You have to be a bit careful with Claudia, as it can be pronounced a bit like "clawed ya", so if you have Balls or similar as a surname I'd give it a miss if I were you.

Ive heard of Truan, but not Struan. Sounds a bit off to me, maybe because of that.

I only really like Elliott from your boys list.
Ester, Sylvie and Margot from the girls.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn Fri 01-Jul-16 15:37:29

That's interesting Thursday - I've never heard of Truan

Sgoinneal Fri 01-Jul-16 20:05:17
