Sibling for Theodore

Hi all!

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with DC2 and stuck for names. My son is Theodore (nn Ted/Teddy) which we still absolutely adore, and I’m struggling to find another name I feel the same way about – especially for another boy. I do like longer names that can be shortened, both my husband and I like having the option with our own names. Help!

I think we have decided on Evangeline for a girl, full name Evangeline Sophia Charlotte (Surname). Do Theodore and Evangeline ‘go’? My only hesitation with it is the inevitable shortening to Evie. Possible other nicknames? Only other options we have are:

Anastasia – a bit too 50 shades??
Evelyn
Florence

Current boys list (none of which are really in the running for a first name):

Alfred - but couldn’t deal with yet another Alfie, as gorgeous as the name is.
Oscar
Arthur
Mongomery/Montague (Monty)
Tobias – we both love Tobias and the pet form of Toby, but I think Teddy and Toby is wayyyyy too cutesy for me, alongside the fact they would both share the same first initial – would like to avoid any Kardashian type connotations!

Middle names likely to be out of Henry, Felix and Otto.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

I think Evangeline is lovely. I think Monty would go great, not so keen on the others.

Thank you for replying LemonBreeland, I do really like Monty...but sadly I'm not entirely sure a child of ours can carry off Montgomery/Montague!

I wanted Evangeline too but had a boy. He's Arthur - great name! Would had called her Linny. DH thinks I'm crazy.

What about Bartholomew - shortened to Bart or Barto?

I know a little Monty (Montgomery) and he is an absolute joy of a child.

Evangeline is lovely but she may well end up as Evie, of which there are thousands....

From your boy suggestions I like Montgomery/Montague - great classic underused name. I find the others quite trendy/overused in comparison.

Evangeline is lovely. I wanted that but dh didn't like it. I was going to shorten it to Eva. Another vote for Monty if it's a boy!

Henry, Felix and Otto are the names of 3 of the 5 'Chloeandbeans' boys (social media lady Chloe has 6 kids 4&under). Seems like you have similar taste - their other kids are Evan and Rufus and Pearl.

Love Evangeline btw and think it goes brilliantly with Theodore.

Don't be worried about your child carrying off a name. Children grow to be their names. I bottled a name I love as I couldn't imagine shouting it across our primary school playground. I since moved my DC to another school. I wish I'd had the courage of my convictions.

I think Florence or Charlotte go beautifully with Theodore. Monty is adorable!!! I'm not a fan of any of the Eve.... names and do think shortening is inevitable. X
