It sounds made up.

I know a Farrell.

Makes me think of farrow and ball paint, sorry!

Farrow and Ball paint.

Or reminds me of farming - a cross between harrowing and fallow.

Just no.

Why?

It's much more of a last name to me sorry. But if you and dh like it then go for it, I've heard worse.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/06/2016 10:24

It's a term for a pig giving birth - like calving/lambing.

Why do you like the name? What's your point of reference for it?

Millyonthefloss · 08/06/2016 10:27

I would be worried about nicknames involving Balls

SnoozeButtonAbuser · 08/06/2016 10:29

Lovely, except that people will always be giving him a sodding ball and then sniggering "look it's Farrow and ball hahaha". You'll get sick of that shit loooooong before he does.

I really liked the name Willow for a girl, but now we've found out we're are having a little boy. I guess I thought it sounded... strong? I don't know now. Pig birthing may have killed it down dead.

The pig thing is a veto I think!

Porcupinetree · 08/06/2016 12:27

It's definitely a pig giving birth .

I like it. I do know a Farrow, female though but I think it's nice for a boy too. Can't see kids making a connection between the name and some posh paint either.

It's very farmy

Immediate associations '...and Ball', or 'Mia'. Not good.

First thought is farrowing pigs which then leads on to a James Herriot story where a sow burst an abcess on her ear.

Second though is Blackadder, in the episode with Ponsonby & Farrow, where Lady Farrow petitions the queen & is accused by Blackadder of being an interfering strumpet who goes blabbing to the queen. He wears a bag on his head.

I don't like it as a name, sorry OP.
