Jordanna??

So, while we're still debating our potential girls name (we waited until the last minute to name Martha, and we'd prefer not to this time, so trying to find a few favourites before we ttc), DH brought up the idea of naming a girl Jordan(ne), after someone he was close to. I'm not keen on it but he suggested Jordanna too.

Thoughts on Jordanna?? Is it too unusual? Too 'unique'? Should we spell it as Jordana instead?

If we use it, we'd probably use Jordanna Kate, Jordanna Eve, or Jordanna Grace (Big sister is Martha Rose).

My initial opinion was that it sounded like a porn stars name... Maybe because of the link with glamour girl Jordan?Confused

moo - wasn't that Katie Price's glamour model name ? I can't remember now! I know DH likes Jordan/Jordanna after a friend who passed away, so the porn star connection hopefully isn't too strong.

If you like it you like it. I liked Madeline Rose
For a girl then typed maddie rose
Into Google and it came up with loads of porn stars Shock but I'd still probably use the name ha!

It sounds like a character out of Dynasty.

hmm, I may have been better off not asking ?? I totally understand DH's reason for wanting to use it, but it's beginning to sound like it's best as a middle name. I really didn't think it was chavvy though, hah. DH is from an area that usually is considered to be 'posh' so I found that quite funny Grin.

Jordana is an anglicised version of the Hebrew name Yardena. It's a perfectly legitimate name. I know two! I think the whole Jordan/page 3 girl thing is outdated now as she's gone by Katie Price for years!

I know a Jordanna.
If you like it use it.

Sorry op but it's awful. I knew a Jordaine who was a girl named after a male Jordan and she did not like her name!
The only female Jordan anyone knows is katie price and putting an A on the end doesn't make it feminine. Why not use Jordan or jordana as a middle name but definitely not a first name.

Awful.

She'll be jeolous of her older sisters much nicer name.

Sorry I agree that it's awful. It would make me think dodgy reality tv star or porn star.

I don't like it at all, it's awful especially when compared to Martha which is a very classic, lovely name.

Well I'm going to go against the grain and I say I think it's fine. I knew a Jordana growing up, she'd be about 30 now so it would make me think of her and not Jordan. In any case, couldn't any name turn out to be a porn star's name if you looked long enough?! I would spell it with only one "n" though.

As Penguin says, Jordana is an anglicised version of the Hebrew name Yardena.

For that reason I'd go for the single-N spelling. I don't think people will have forgotten that katie price's name was Jordan, and I agree Jordanna sounds made-up (and a bit chavvy, sorry). Jordana on the other hand is a nice name.

I know a Jordanna, her family are from the Middle East, it's a lovely name.

Prefer Jordana to Jordanna (never heard of it with two 'n's) but don't like it.

Also prefer spelling with one 'n' but personally I'm not keen on the name at all.

Not keen, sorry.

How about another name that ends in anna or similar? Julianna, Susanna, Lianna, Alannah, Joanna, Georgiana, Marianne?

My twenty six year old cousin is called Jordan, she's female.
I think because of this I've never associated the name with Katie Price, although I do actually like Katie Price Wink

Jordana seems a bit try hard to my ears, it doesn't flow very nicely and doesn't go with Martha at all.

I knew a Jewish Jordana at school. I don't mind it , it's better than Jordanna. She went by Jo though

Bejaysus. It's very pornstar, OP. Particularly if you slap Rose or something on as a middle name.

Jordana is better but I still get that vibe from it.

Actually I just realised that Rose is the older sisters middle - I read that wrong! I think Eve or Grace add to the porn thing. Kate isn't as bad.
