name for dc3 - short list.

Its not so much a short-list, as a list that's just short. We really struggle with names either finding them too ordinary or common, too old fashioned or too 'out-there'.

So, currently we have ds Isaac and dd Florence.

Names we like for a boy are Seth and Cole . I like Sebastian but Dh doesn't. For a girl its even harder. Names we are floating are Talitha nn Tallie, Aurelia and Isla. Out of all of these we like the name Isla (Jean for middlename) most, but its so popular we are put off.

Views on list so far and suggestions would be good. Something that is different but not too wild/old.

Add Poppy to the girls list too. I've always liked this. DH might be coming around but does it compliment Florence?

Tbh I say 'we' are floating Aurelia but dh is not yet convinced but I've liked it for ages so it's on!! Couldn't get it on the shortlist for dd1 but didn't mind as Florence has been my love for years.

I need to convince dh people!!

I like Cole, Sebastian, Talitha and Isla. Poppy and Isla are vey popular but no more so than Isaac, I don't think, and popularity isn't necessarily a bad thing. Aurelia is nice enough but I don't like Seth.

Yes isaac equally as popular as Poppy and Isle but didn't realise that at time and he has 3 in his nursery class already. I love his name so can't say I wouldn't pick it regardless but it might have put us off.

Cole is awful, sorry. It's really chavvy.

I love Sebastian and Talitha. Seth is Ok as is Aurelia and yes, Isla is very overdone right now although still a nice name.

I think popularity of names must come in little pockets. I don't know a single Olivia and have only come across one Isla and that was about 12 years ago and she moved away from here when she was about 3. There are no Isla's in year one at DD1's school and none in DD2's nursery.

I think Isla is lovely, and you may well never come across another one in your area if it's not a trendy name locally. On the other hand, DD1's name is not popular at all (not in top 500 when she was born and never since) but there are 2 in her class. So you never know.

Olivia and Isla are fairly regular names in my DCs school. Not common, but not unusual. I love Thalia and Talia but not Talitha.
