What's your opinion on the name Sylvie? Do you know any?
Sylvie has been front runner for a while but having a wobble now I'm close to my due date...

We've named our three week old dd Sylvie. Took me a day or two to announce it as it was quite a last minute decision, but glad we went with it. Have had loads of people saying they love the name.

I have a Sylvie! Not met another one yet and people always comment on how lovely her name is.

LadyAntonella Sat 21-May-16 22:39:18

I absolutely love it! I also like Sylvia but prefer Sylvie.

DramaAlpaca Sat 21-May-16 22:40:06

It's lovely, very pretty. I've never met a Sylvie.

Really pretty!

We have one in our family. Gorgeous name. Go for it!

Love it. My 3 day old has it as a middle name smile interestingly it's much more commonly used than sylvia, I think around 200-400 a year.

I have a seven year old Sylvie, I think it's the best name smile

Alisvolatpropiis Sun 22-May-16 00:12:51

Love it

Ludways Sun 22-May-16 00:37:31

I love it. I get the vibe it's going to be popular. If that bothers you, it doesn't bother me.

I like it. Has a certain mystical woodland nymph-like quality (or is it just me?)

Suzietwo Sun 22-May-16 07:49:57

I know a 4 year old Sylvie. I prefer Sylvia but like both

mrsschu Sun 22-May-16 07:57:13

I know 2 Sylvie's, both under 18 months so I would say it's getting popular (around London anyway). It's ok IMO.

lostlalaloopsy Sun 22-May-16 08:01:55

It is beautiful!! I love it, but DH wasn't keen for dd2. I was just thinking the other day it would have so suited her.

Borogoves Sun 22-May-16 08:04:02

I know a Sylvie named after her granny Sylvia. I like it.

GoldPlatedBacon Sun 22-May-16 08:04:06

I'm not a huge fan of it but that's because Sylvie/Sylvia was the name of a lot of my friends' parents so to me it's in the 'sandra/Linda' group. However, it is popular where I am, there are two Sylvias and a Sylvie at a baby group I go to plus a 3/4 year old Sylvie at another play group. Actually, it's the only girls name that is repeated at baby groups I attend which is odd as statistically it's not that popular

Porcupinetree Sun 22-May-16 10:00:56

My mother in law is called Sylvie.

nectarini1983 Sun 22-May-16 13:57:08

What a lovely refreshing change from Isla/ Izzy/ Ellie/ Lily etc. Congratulations!

waxweasel Mon 23-May-16 08:52:10

I love Sylvie! It was on my shortlist but DH didn't like it. It would have suited 4 week old DD too because she's got bright red hair and looks like a little squirrel creature.

YellowPirate Mon 23-May-16 21:43:44

I think it's lovely, this one will be Sylvie if it's a girl. Never met one. X

Always makes me think of Sylvie Guillem - in my opinion, the greatest ballerina of all time. Love it!

dodobookends Mon 23-May-16 21:48:47

Sylvie is lovely. The only one I know of is Sylvie Guillem, the French ballerina.
