What's everyone's general opinion, would dislike nickname Tina but don't mind Flo florrie etc x

weebarra Wed 11-May-16 18:38:50

I would be thinking Fiorentina like the football club.

If Tina is a deal breaker, don't use it. It is not your name and she could choose to be called Tina.
Also reminded of Fiorentina!

firawla Wed 11-May-16 18:41:18

I think Florentina is a type of pizza? I would like just Florina better, or Florence?

MyNewBearTotoro Wed 11-May-16 18:42:40

I would be thinking of the pizza.

Although it's not to my taste once you get past that it's okay. If I had to choose a name to go with the nicknames Flo/Florrie I would probably prefer Florence but on someone else's baby I'd think the name was fine (after initially thinking 'like the pizza?')

I think it would be hard to guarantee she wouldn't end up a Tina though so if you really dislike that nickname I wouldn't use it.

I also thought of the pizza

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn Wed 11-May-16 18:43:29

Ooh pizza with egg on!

Flora and Florence are lovely names though.

I like Florentina. I didn't think of pizzas! Just looked it up and it's a Spanish saint's name.

Abecedario Wed 11-May-16 21:55:33

Pizza here too.

I taught a Flori once, as an alternative to Flora /Florence.

MiddleClassProblem Wed 11-May-16 21:56:41

Pizza and now I'm hungry...
And now I'm thinking of Florentines...

Marzipants Wed 11-May-16 21:56:42

I want pizza now?

What about Florence?

flamingnoravera Wed 11-May-16 22:28:15

Florin is ok.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Wed 11-May-16 23:53:39

You mightn't like the nn Tina, but your DD might do, so on that basis. I'd avoid

julfin Thu 12-May-16 08:16:37

I think it's beautiful. But you couldn't stop her using the nn Tina if she wanted to.

Sophronia Thu 12-May-16 09:27:20

How about Florinda instead?

Only1scoop Thu 12-May-16 09:28:44

Makes me think of those yummy biscuit things covered in chocolate.

Much prefer Florence

Pipilangstrumpf Thu 12-May-16 10:49:23

I really like Florentina! I think Flo or Florrie were more likely nicknames than Tina.

I thought the Pizza was Fiorentina..? I also love the name Margherita despite that pizza being much more popular. People won't think of the pizza once they meet a little Margherita or Florentina imo.

MitzyLeFrouf Thu 12-May-16 10:55:31

Florentine pizza or chocolate florentines.

RiverTam Thu 12-May-16 10:56:14

I didn't think of the pizza or football club, but it does look like the brand name for a kind of juice or something. Don't like it.

MiddleClassProblem Thu 12-May-16 11:00:58

I new a valentina who went by Tin
