Hi all, asking on behalf of a friend.

She has decided on Eliot (spelt like that).

They want the middle name Oliver.

Eliot Oliver

Does it sound too bad?

Sounds fine, they are fairly common names dispute the unusual spelling.

What are they concerned about?

Bit of a mouthful said together, but both are names I really like and it's I do think it sounds quite musical.
Really don't like the spelling of Eliot though. Lifetime of correcting people, and being judged as having parents who can't spell.

Sounds fine, middle name won't be used much anyway.

Sounds fine.

Fine ...... Unless some bright spark says "Elly Olly".

It's fine. But why is your friend wanting to spell Eliot incorrectly? - it looks daft like that IMO.

Eliot spelt that way looks very odd and silly. I think it looks a bit freakish when people deliberately miss out or add extra letters to a conventional name to make it a bit 'different'. I agree with AuntJane : Elly Olly could be picked up on by kids to taunt him.

Not keen on the spelling at all, but other than that they sound okay together.

It's a bit of a mouthfull, but really, how often are they/him going to say him first and middle name when he meets people. I don't even use my middle name for formal certificates unless i have to.

Spelling looks odd. Can you suggest she re-thinks this? Just because he will face a lifetime of correcting people. It looks like a spelling mistake. Other then that I don't think there is a problem with those two names together.

Is it after T.S Eliot?

Sounds great to me. Looks fine too.

Would someone really be upset by 'Elly Olly'? confused

Love both smile do sound a little strange, but not a big deal. I don't like that spelling either!

I think you might end up running it together a bit: Ell-ee-uh Tolliver.

That isn't a huge problem though, you don't constantly use the two names. I'm not convinced on the spelling either, sorry.
