Do you like this name? smile

I don't think it would go with surname so was considering it perhaps as a middle name

not even pregnant but humour megrin

MidnightVelvetthe5th Sun 01-May-16 17:58:54

Its too dated for me, I don't know any Helens under 40...

BestIsWest Sun 01-May-16 18:00:02

Classic name imho.

TheCatsMeow Sun 01-May-16 18:00:34

I know a few Helens who are under 25. I don't have a strong opinion on it - it's an inoffensive name.

springtimevintagedream Sun 01-May-16 18:03:07

I know LOADS of Helens around my age (32) but none under about 25.

Lots of my friends would think the baby was named in their honour [smile

katienana Sun 01-May-16 18:04:15

Well I know 2. I like it think you would find more Helena or helenes these days.

septembersunshine Sun 01-May-16 18:07:53

No, not much. But I think Helena is gorgeous.

MadameJosephine Sun 01-May-16 19:05:22

Don't like it sorry. Helena is lovely though. I think quite a few names are totally transformed by an added 'a' (egJulia, Anna, Sophia) and this is definitely one of them

ummlilia Sun 01-May-16 19:11:08

My daughter is Helen- she is 27- so obviously I like it. I like Helena too..

cosmicglittergirl Sun 01-May-16 19:14:06

I'm a Helen (under 40, gasp!), and I'm not keen.

LadyAntonella Sun 01-May-16 19:20:20

I really like it. I know a toddler with this name and it really suits her.

Elllicam Sun 01-May-16 19:21:30

I like it. Unusual but not weird.

confusedandemployed Sun 01-May-16 19:24:57

I'm a Helen. It's Avery meh name IMO.

Also, all the Helens on TV are usually the wronged wives, the victims. I wonder if it's seen as a timid name by some.

I'm not timid!

Ludways Sun 01-May-16 19:39:05

I know loads my age (49), also one who is 12. It's a bit boring, IMHO

BestIsWest Sun 01-May-16 20:04:06

I've notice that about Helens being victims too. I think it's often used to portray the 'good' girl or woman.

Fourormore Sun 01-May-16 20:05:16

I love it.

quitecrunchy Sun 01-May-16 20:17:24

I like it. To me it says a strong woman - interested to see that it's the opposite for others. Much prefer it to Helena. I think the fact it's quite unusual nowadays for children gives it charm.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Sun 01-May-16 20:24:49

Helena is much prettier

DailyMailDick Sun 01-May-16 20:28:04

Helen is lovely. Helena is boring. Why does every name have to end in an 'a' these days.

Helen sounds strong.

Helena reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter confused

Topseyt Sun 01-May-16 20:28:32

No problem with it, but then, I am a Helen.

I will be 50 this summer.

If I were to think of giving it to a baby it would be in the form of Helena, probably.

Sophronia Sun 01-May-16 20:40:25

I like Helen, I think it's a strong name.

RiverTam Sun 01-May-16 20:41:51

I'm not keen, it feels very dated to me, and quite dull. I prefer Helena.

FinnigansCake Sun 01-May-16 20:44:31

I love it, it's definitely due a revival!

thatsn0tmyname Sun 01-May-16 20:44:38

I'm a Helen. I like it. I've taught a few Helens and they are pretty, studious typessmile

Coldtoeswarmheart Sun 01-May-16 20:46:20

I think it's a bit 70's TBH. Like Karen or Clare.
