Opinions? I really love this name, but is it silly? I love the NN Cryssie too!

MarieJeanne Wed 27-Apr-16 12:19:06

I quite like it, although it does make me think of Crystal Tips and Alistair.
Christelle is very common in France.

AlleyCatandRastaMouse Wed 27-Apr-16 12:19:55

Very 1980s Dynasty for me. Sorry.

Whathaveilost Wed 27-Apr-16 12:21:21

I like it.

Only1scoop Wed 27-Apr-16 12:21:44

Prefer Christie

Always think of shoulder pads with Chrystal

SummerGreanland Wed 27-Apr-16 12:27:32

I like Crystal

TempsPerdu Wed 27-Apr-16 12:28:01

Crystal used to be my absolute favourite name when I was about 8 (this was very much the '80s Dynasty era!). It does have a nice sound, but right now I think it comes across as very dated and a bit brash.

LadyAntonella Wed 27-Apr-16 12:30:36

I think it's a bit silly sorry, but could just be me.

cbigs Wed 27-Apr-16 12:33:08

No sorry op it sounds a bit daft to me too. Why not just have chrissie if you like it?

FindingTheRightName Wed 27-Apr-16 12:35:29

Because I don't like it enough. I like the whole thing smile

LadyAntonella Wed 27-Apr-16 13:15:17

I bet loads of people will hate this suggestion, but how do you feel about Star? I love it and it's sort of similar to Crystal (to me anyway). I think it's so cool and would love to use but DH would veto.

figureofspeech Wed 27-Apr-16 13:19:54

Sorry it is a bit stripper/porn star name for me.

MidnightVelvetthe5th Wed 27-Apr-16 13:24:14

Ha I went to school with a Cristal in the 1980's, she was teased a lot.

Its pretty, but to some it will be a stripper's stage name & not a name for a real child. I like it but for me its middle name territory if at all, sorry.

(I had a thing with jewel names when I was little, all my Sindys were called Sapphire, Crystal etc & I really like it still)

albertcampionscat Wed 27-Apr-16 13:24:24

Dynasty or stripper, sadly.

MidnightVelvetthe5th Wed 27-Apr-16 13:24:49

x post

albertcampionscat Wed 27-Apr-16 13:25:35

Lovely name in theory, but the associations aren't great.

Funny the way that works. Rosalind means snake in the grass (I think) and James/Jacob/Jamie etc.. all mean 'supplanter/deceiver.

TigerLily666 Wed 27-Apr-16 13:28:11

Don't do it - your child will have never forgive you. Find an alternative!

Whathaveilost Wed 27-Apr-16 17:28:25

I know a few Crystal's of varying ages and they all seem happy with their names!

RortyCrankle Wed 27-Apr-16 18:08:19

Very Dynasty unless we have gone back in time to the 1980s.

manicinsomniac Wed 27-Apr-16 19:17:00

There was a girl a couple of years below me at primary school called Crystal-Jade and I remember thinking it was the most beautiful name ever. I was so jealous.

I still kind of like it. Bit of a 'don't think I'd actually do it but think it's really pretty anyway' kind of name.

DerelictMyBalls Wed 27-Apr-16 19:33:24

Lovely name.

Bohemond Wed 27-Apr-16 19:40:34

Dire - sorry

mrsschu Wed 27-Apr-16 21:22:38

It's dreadful IMO. Very 80's/stripper sounding.

midsomermurderess Wed 27-Apr-16 22:47:59

Reminds me of a tacky Australian I know.

MangosteenSoda Wed 27-Apr-16 22:52:10

I know a Christal and a Krystal and they are both happy with their names. Don't know any in the UK though- it's much more of an American/Australian name to my ears.
