All feedback appreciated - be as brutally honest as you like!

I have starred my personal favourites. Would love any other ideas you might have too.

Girls:

*Isabelle
Edith
Romily
Rosalie

Boys:

*Arthur
Alfred
Rufus

Middle names:

Probably Teresa (family name) or Patrick but again all suggestions appreciated.

I like Isabelle (but it is very popular), Edith, Arthur and Alfred.

Edith Teresa and Alfred Patrick would be my picks.

Isabelle - Far to popular right now for my liking, plus there are so many different varients of the spelling i just find it annoying.
Edith - Old woman I know it's all the rage at the moment, but it is not a crazy i like. Not a name for a little girl in my opinion, but i do like Edie as a stand alone name.
Romily - Okay, seems to be rising in popularity at the moment.
Rosalie - I like this one, its quite pretty and suitable for a child or an adult. i also like Rosanna.

Arthur - Old man Too old fashioned for me, i don't like Art or Artie as nick names either.
Alfred - Old man I like Alfie or Freddie on their own, but not this as a full name.
Rufus - Dog I don't like it for a child at all.

Thanks for feedback!

Hmmmm I did wonder about Isabelle being very popular atm... I wouldn't mind a popular name but probably would prefer it if there weren't about 5 children of the same name in a class IYKWIM.

Similarly I love Henry for a boy and really like Henry Patrick, but wonder if Henry is very popular too atm?

Girls:

Isabelle - really dull
Edith - OK, I like Edie
Romily - nice, love Romy!
Rosalie - bit too frilly for my taste but nice enough!

Boys:

Arthur - really stuffy
Alfred - ditto
Rufus - nice, really like it but might get the nn Rufie?

Rory??

I know 3 baby Henrys 6-12 months old, and it's DS' middle name, so IME it's popular at the mo, yes.

Aaaaaargh to nn Rufie!!! Surely not! Hadn't thought of that. Fussy's not much better.

Also, I would probably shorten Edith to Edie and Alfred to Alfie / Fred / Freddie, but I'd rather put the longer name on the BC. I have a DD with a short name which can't really have nns and, though I love the name, I regret that she won't have the option to shorten it or choose a nn as she grows up.

I really like Rory but know a lot of little boys called Rory so thought it was getting very popular, but perhaps not.

Girls:

Isabelle - love this, I know it's popular, but I still like it!
Edith - I like this too - Edie is a great NN!
Romily - it's not the best... I like the NN Millie/Milly...
Rosalie - I like this too! Rosie is a lovely shortening!

Boys:

Arthur - no
Alfred - I like the NN Alfie, but not the name!
Rufus - big no

Middle names:

Teresa and Patrick are good names. That's only because Teresa is my mum's NN Grin - I don't think I like it though, but I know it's a family name!

I like Patrick!

Isabelle is lovely but hugely popular. I like Edith a lot. Not at all keen on Romily - it's one of those names I just do not get. Rosalie better but not keen either. I actually think you should go with Teresa as a first name - it's unusual and lovely.

Afraid I'm not keen on any of your boys' names - Rufus is the best.

Thanks for feedback both.

I'm not keen on Teresa or Patrick as first names tbh, though I love them as middle names which sounds a bit strange I realise.

I really like old fashioned / vintage sounding names - I know this was a trend which probably started years ago so hope I'm not just subconsciously jumping on the band wagon (a bit too late).

I like all the names on your list a lot, but as others have said, Isabelle (and its many diminutives) is very popular just now and as she would probably get Belle, or Bella for a nn there is a chance that she would be one of several in her class.

The same goes for Rosalie, with nn Rose she could be one of several Roses. But I also think Rosalie makes a better "grown up" name than Rose.

Arthur and Alfred, great names with good options of nn but both are getting popular now.

So my choice would be Romily and Rufus.

Isabelle - pretty sound, just too popular for me I'm afraid. I've lost count of the number of Isabel/Isobel/Isabelle's I've taught lately. Heard it so often that it feels bland, which is a shame as in theory it's a lovely name!
Edith - I want to like this, but I find it harsh-sounding. Edie's nice, although becoming increasingly popular - the new Evie?
Romily - I have an irrational dislike of this name - think it's the combination of the hard 'Rom' sound (which makes me think of Field Marshal Rommel) and then the frilly '-ily' ending! Not a fan.
Rosalie - pretty, quite like this and it's not overly common.

Arthur - like it. Might just be me being weird though, but I think it's one of those names that really depends on the surname - e.g. Arthur Smith ('old man' and down to earth) feels totally different from Arthur Cavendish (dashing and distinguished)
Alfred - not for me - too old mannish and Victorian, and I really dislike Alfie
Rufus - love it - my pick of your boys' names, and you could have the nn Roo or Red (for the meaning)

Rosalie Theresa and Rufus Patrick for me

Only one I'm really not keen on is Isabelle. I know about 10 under 10. Unimaginative imo. Romily is lovely and underused. I like all your boy names Smile

DS is Alfred nn Freddie/Fred. It's a cute name and versatile - he can choose his nn when he's older.

I'm struggling with what to call his impending brother though!

Isabelle or Rufus.

Thanks all.

I really like Roo as a nn for Rufus. Red is nice too.
