Zipporah.

I thought it was pretty cool! She suited it too: aged about 9.

How could you "suit" a name like that?

That was the name of Moses' wife, I think. Lovely name, either way

How would you avoid the nn "Zippy"?

I dont want to out the little girl by describing her as it is not a common name. But she suited it and what do you mean a name like that?

I know a Zipporah aged about 5ish. She has a brother called Zebediah.

They're known as Zeb and Zip

I think it's kind of cute actually.

Though there are subsequent siblings in the family without Z names.

I know one who uses the Tsipora spelling. A lovely name imo.

DDs minder in daycare was Zipporah. I think it is a lovely name. Never heard of the Tsipora spelling but that is also lovely.

Awesome! I met a Zipporah once.

I'd take Zipporah over Evie/Grace/Amelia/Isabella/Olivia any day!

Zipporah / Tsipora is very Jewish.

Zipporah still quite popular in Jewish communities, I think.
Autumn there's a book character called Araminta - in Moondial? - and when I read it I really wanted to be called that!

I was going to ask if it was Jewish!

Report
Frika · 01/04/2016 13:38

It's not at all unusual in Jewish communities. I know an Israel-born Tsiporah/Tsipporah too.

In a sea of Oscars and Evies, makes a nice change.
