My great, great grandfathers name but is it too 'old fashioned'? What do you think?

DP and I also like Marc, Matthew, Joseph and Caleb.

PunkAssMoFo Mon 28-Mar-16 18:29:32

I like it. Definitely due a comeback.

Sophronia Mon 28-Mar-16 18:46:46

ccsays Mon 28-Mar-16 19:06:39

Love it

I'm in Scotland and know a few Duncans from all ages. Personally I'm not keen on it for a child but nothing wrong with it either.

It's awful.

Use it as a middle name if you must.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Mon 28-Mar-16 19:19:16

Matthew is lovely.

SallyDonovan Mon 28-Mar-16 19:19:17

Sorry it's awful. It's the name of a 60 year old man.

Palomb Mon 28-Mar-16 19:20:04

My dad is called Malcolm and he is the most interesting, enthusiastic person you could ever meet.

I like it!

flumpybear Mon 28-Mar-16 19:20:31

Sorry I hate that name too, Matthew is nice. But it's your baby so go for it. My kids have marmite names too mad I couldn't care less as I love them

PotteringAlong Mon 28-Mar-16 19:21:40

Middle name, yes. First name, no.

nectarini1983 Mon 28-Mar-16 19:27:25

It's a no from me! Oh Malcolm!

hollyisalovelyname Mon 28-Mar-16 19:47:43

No. Use it as a second name.
Matthew is lovely.

Coldtoeswarmheart Mon 28-Mar-16 19:48:40

Matthew is much better.

NoCapes Mon 28-Mar-16 19:49:31

Oh gosh no!

Shesinfashion Mon 28-Mar-16 19:56:04

Unpopular for a reason. It's awful. I'm old enough to remember a certain advert from the past for Vicks Nasal spray featuring a grown up mummy's boy with a very blocked nose called Malcolm. That's all I think of when I hear the name.
Don't let that put you off though if you genuinely love it, use it.

Shesinfashion Mon 28-Mar-16 19:57:32

Matthew or Caleb.

sonlypuppyfat Mon 28-Mar-16 19:58:50

Of all the lovely names you can think of you came up with malcolm

Solobo Mon 28-Mar-16 20:00:50

I hate it sorry. When anyone was clumsy we used to call them Malcolm (as in Malcoordinated (sp?)

toastedbeagle Mon 28-Mar-16 20:03:41

My DH s called Malcolm and there's not much I can do about that, but I wouldn't inflict it on a new generation.

MrsBungle Mon 28-Mar-16 20:04:46

Malcolm is truly awful.

HoppingForward Mon 28-Mar-16 20:06:12

Love it.

MyLlamasGoneBananas Mon 28-Mar-16 20:06:14

I'm not keen. I know a few Malcs - that's what they get called - all older men.

Some old man names I get, but I'm struggling with Malcolm. That said, Its your choice and I don't think your son will be one if several Malcolm when he gets to
