Currently trying to name Dd2 and myself and DP don't agree on anything! We already have a Evelyn (Evie) and the only name we can even remotely agree on is Eliza but I'm not 100%. Opinions please!! Also, I like full names on birth certificate so would you have Elizabeth or is Eliza ok on its own?

Love but I am biased Wink
Only thing I've found its that its is mispronounced an awful lot and I'm always told it's very unusual Confused

Good start, thanks :) I only know one way to pronounce it! What are the other ways?!

My 6m dd is Eliza and it's been universally liked. She is Eliza on bc.

I get Elisa or Elise the s sound rather than the Z. I always thought it was a classic name not in the least bit unusual

And also Eliza on bc. It's a name in its own right imo

One of ours is Elizabeth - we have always called her Beth, but put the full name on the registration so she would have some other choices open to her.

Defiantly would use the 'z' version!

Love it, if I had a ds now she'd be Eliza. Know no other way of pronouncing it.

I always prefer full names on the bc too, but Eliza is a name in its own right.

It goes very well with Evelyn.

I don't think you'll have any problems with pronunciation...its becoming quite popular in Kent so people will soon be familiar with it.

(Always reminds me of Liza Minnelli/ Eliza Doolittle!)

Dd is Eliza on her bc. Never had any issues with pronunciation although we do know an adult who pronounces it e Lee za as opposed to e lie za

Sorry, I meant to add that we chose Eliza but don't like other shortnings of Elizabeth. I have a longer bc name and hate the hassle eg when a new starter at work if getting a correct email address etc with my shorter name, especially as I have an unusual spelling. I was determined that we would use dd's bc name

My dd that's due in 4 weeks is going to be called Eliza with Elizabeth on her bc so I may be a bit bias but I love it. I've had a few people say why don't I just put Eliza on bc and it's because thats what I want so do what ever you want.

Not keen. New baby name on Emmerdale so would avoid for that reason!

I've watched the 1996 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice far too much. I can't hear the name Eliza without hearing Crinoline Bingley exclaiming 'Eliza Bennett!' It is lovely though, and not absolutely everywhere like some names!

Crinoline?! Caroline!

Thank you your replies! Any ideas for middle names? DP has quite a harsh sounding surname so need to be pretty to balance it out

The Eliza i know is also known as Belle and Elle and Ellie by her family but friends, teachers etc stick to Eliza or sometimes Ellie . I love it. She's Eliza Lily . I only know one so it's not too common but not so unusual to make them stand out too much
