Do you prefer the original "Leila"?

I really like this name but prefer the spelling Layla rather than Leila which to me doesnt look like it is pronounced Layla

Layla reads as it's pronounced. So Layla is preferred plus I know three Layla's.

I know two Leila's. Both pronounced Lee-la. I'd say Layla Lay-la. Both pretty.

It's fluffy, sorry. I like stronger consonants.

Layla is nicer.
Leila is often pronounced lie-la.

I prefer Layla. Beautiful name but sadly one we cannot use here :/

Leila is much nicer, IMO. Layla strikes me as a bit 'dumbed down'.

I have a cousin called Leyla, just to throw another spelling into the mix. My uncle is Moroccan so I assume it's an authentic spelling?! Although they live in the US so maybe it's been American-ised! It's nice enough as a name I suppose.

I knew a gorgeous, lovely, beautiful Layla. Her name suited her perfectly Smile

If I saw Leila written down. I would assume it was pronounced Leela, I mean where's the "Ai" sound in the Leila spelling.
Layla, Laila or, Laela are the best spellings. IMO.

Yes, I prefer Leila.

I think it's a lovely name, and like both spellings.

But depending on the level of diversity in your area, you might want to think about your DC's likely appearance as the meaning 'night, dark beauty' can be well known.

However you spell it people will call her, Leila, Lyela, etc. I know one and her mum moans about this.

I prefer Leila. I also quite like Lelia, if that appeals!

It is a predominantly Muslim/Middle Eastern name. I personally think it is very ubiquitous name in areas with higher concentration of Muslims. It depends where you live.

Where's the "ai" sound, ilive?

Ei. Like at the beginning of eight. Or in weight. Or do you say "weeeght"?

It sounds like a nickname to me
