Would appreciate some honest 37 weeks pregnant with second daughter.

My current favourite name is Aurora but i want to know if people associate this with Disney/ Sleeping Beauty or with Aurora Borealis/ northern lights? I'm hoping it's the latter as dd1 doesn't have a 'disney princess' name but step daughter does and don't want her to feel left out! The many many joys of picking baby names!

Thanks ladies!

Both - but I'd veer to the latter. If I heard of an Aurora and a Belle or something though I'd assume Disney (and if the other name is Cinderella you've no chance wink)

Instantly think Sleeping Beauty.

Aurelia instead?

I think location has a lot to do with it too. Here in Northern Canada it would be about the lights. For those in the US I'd think Disney

I didn't know it was a disney name. Just makes me think of the amazing lights and also leads to the nn Rory which I absolutely adore.

Thumbs up from me.

That's a good point! I'm in the S E of England.

The Battleship Aurora, moored in St Petersburg, a blank shot from which signalled the start of the assault on The Winter Palace at the beginning of the October Revolution in 1917. So a socialist name.

Disney for me!

sandylion Tue 22-Mar-16 20:43:57

To me it's a fab veruca salt song! It's a cute name.

Wanderingwondering Tue 22-Mar-16 20:44:37

I really like it for the lights connection but wimped out due to the Disney connection

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall Tue 22-Mar-16 20:45:29

I don't think of Disney when I hear the name Jasmine at all.
Aurora Borealis for me too.

There are many people who have very little awareness of Disney princesses you know.

Branleuse Tue 22-Mar-16 20:45:54

id think of the aurora borealis

nectarini1983 Tue 22-Mar-16 20:47:15

Very true Allpizzas. ...maybe I'm too up on my disney general knowledge!

Purplebluebird Tue 22-Mar-16 20:47:16

Northern lights for sure. Lovely name!

ChutesTooNarrow Tue 22-Mar-16 20:47:48

I have an Aurora. If commented on, which is rarely, people tend to think northern lights. She is actually named for the goddess Aurora.

nectarini1983 Tue 22-Mar-16 20:49:53

That's good to know. I really love it, just don't want dd1 feeling hard done by in the name stakes!

Sgoinneal Tue 22-Mar-16 20:55:45

I'd go for it in that instance! And as a pp said, if she ends up being nn Rory that is also really cool.

onehellofaride Tue 22-Mar-16 21:02:37

Disney but it's my favourite girls name! If I had another DD that would be her name it's beautiful

Wolpertinger Tue 22-Mar-16 21:07:05

I would think goddess of the dawn.

OneMagnumisneverenough Tue 22-Mar-16 21:08:22

I would think of the sound a dog makes when it's chewing a toffee.

camelfinger Tue 22-Mar-16 21:09:37

Erring towards northern lights. It looks nice written down, but saying it out loud is clumsy for me. Would probably get used to it though!

BikeRunSki Tue 22-Mar-16 21:12:12

Northern lights for me too.

JenniferAnistonsHair Tue 22-Mar-16 21:14:30

A friend of mine has an Aurora, named after the northern lights. Without exception, every single person assumes she's named after Sleeping Beauty. My friend gets the rage about it!!
