Voteforpedr0 Tue 15-Mar-16 14:02:59

Reminds me of a bruised rash, sorry. However very popular among mums where I live.

squoosh Tue 15-Mar-16 14:04:45

It's pretty popular these days.

RudeElf Tue 15-Mar-16 14:06:01

Reuben popular!!!

guerre Tue 15-Mar-16 14:07:26

I would assume you were Jewish. I don't know any Reubens.

squoosh Tue 15-Mar-16 14:09:29

Ten years ago I'd have assumed a Reuben was Jewish but not any more.

Bluesand1 Tue 15-Mar-16 14:35:51

I know of 2 and none are Jewish

Stumbleine Tue 15-Mar-16 15:24:41

I have a 9 year old Reuben. We are not Jewish. Back in 2006 it wasn't very popular but I'm hearing of quite a few recently.

Best sandwich ever

centigrade451 Tue 15-Mar-16 15:29:42

It is both a Jewish and Christian Name. I think it is lovely. But tends to get shortened to Ben or Ruby.

People that I have met called Reuben have always been very nice!

squoosh Tue 15-Mar-16 15:31:41

Yes it is a mighty fine sandwich it has to be said!

Fugghetaboutit Tue 15-Mar-16 15:33:32

Only had one in NY, can't find them here. Why is that?

squoosh Tue 15-Mar-16 15:35:30

You can get them in hipster style sandwich joints. It's worth braving the beards and the Victoriana just for a taste of a good Reuben.

SmallBee Tue 15-Mar-16 15:51:23

Love both the name and Sandwich. It's on my shortlist. Love an old testament name.

Sophronia Tue 15-Mar-16 16:59:54

It is quite popular. I know a (Christian) one is who 23.

SpaceDinosaur Tue 15-Mar-16 17:18:40

I don't attribute it to any particular religion, I think it's a beautiful name.

MerryMarigold Tue 15-Mar-16 17:22:07

1 in our whole school (2 class entry). Also like Linus and Silas

Babykr Tue 15-Mar-16 18:17:38

I'm really intrigued, what is in a Reuben sandwiche??

Fugghetaboutit Tue 15-Mar-16 19:35:20

Pastrami/corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut sometimes gherkins w mustard melted in rye bread. It's delicious as the meat is hot and melts the cheese mmm

ShapeShifting Tue 15-Mar-16 20:40:26

It's popular here I know 3 under 3.

nectarini1983 Tue 15-Mar-16 20:48:01

It's fairly popular in the South East..nice name, shame would get abbreviated though.

mrsschu Tue 15-Mar-16 22:54:05

I really like it and wouldn't assume someone called it was Jewish. I'm in London and haven't met any Reuben's.

I have a Reuben, I've only ever met one other one despite people saying its popular. He's not Jewish or a sandwich... and he only gets called Roo by me and DH.

LovelyBranches Wed 16-Mar-16 20:36:54

I have a Reuben. He's 16 months and the only one we've met so far. He gets called Reubs as a nickname.

Suzietwo Wed 16-Mar-16 20:48:17

I have a 6 year old Reuben. It's only occasional abbreviation is reubs.
