what does DS look like?

Seriously losing the will to live. I have done a good handful of threads for his name (sorry) Sad he is growing too fast and hate that he doesn't have a name... We have decided on Elliott for the middle...

We like Matthew Elliott, but not sure I like the fact that he'll have an obvious shortening (so teachers, etc. Will call him Matt) and yet DS is Louis (we call him Lou) but not an obvious NN!

I am going off my whole list which is why I can't leave it any longer...

So, something that goes with Elliott!

what does DS look like?

Congrats OP he is gorgeous!

Matthew is a nice, classic name, and I think if you like you should go for it! Otherwise what about:
Daniel? (Risk of Dan/Danny though...)
Mark
James
Michael

He looks remarkably like my DS Matthew did as a newborn so I'd endorse that! I'm not wild about Matt either but I disliked it less than some of the other one-syllable shortenings of names I liked. Mine is only 2 so still 100% Matthew.

Congratulations!

Love Matthew.

How about Milo, Jack, Toby, Gus?

Well he is adorable and making me broody!

Have you considered a variation on Mathew that may not be obviously shortened? Like Mathias, Matheus, Mateus, or Mateo. It goes well with Louis. Matt, Mattie, Matt-Matt is a great nn, if you go with a variation he could be Tayo or Tayus as well.

Yeah, I do like Matty! Louis and Matty - Lou and Matt could work Smile thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, he's very scrumptious! He was a premie so I love giving him a snuggle and not feel like it's going to break him! x

Matthew - love that name - one of my four sons is called Matthew. I must admit that I love it shortened as well - Matt or Matty. Your little boy is beautiful xx

Looks like a William to me! And Will is a nice nn.

He was going to have Robert Charles for the middle, but we have decided against as the family they are after have begged us not to... Such a bummer

If you are struggling so much for a first name but are decided on Elliott as a middle name, would you consider Elliot as a first name?
Obviously you have your reasons for choosing it as a middle name but as this name has been decided on already it must mean that you like it.
Promote it to first place...Elliott Matthew Smile

Matthew is lovely!

However I am a little bias as my eldest is Mathew ( or Mat now as he's a cool 12 year old). His nn was Maty when he was little

We could definitely do Elliott as a first name I suppose! Just worried about the whole spelling thing... Honestly, if we were to do it as a first, we would still go for Elliott Robert Charles, just because that was the name we announced and then they said that they didn't like their name so didn't want to burden him with it! But I still would as DS has x
