HELP - desperate for a name for ds2 to go with Leo!

puglife15 · 29/02/2016 17:06

DS1 is Leo.

The only boys names I seem to like are way too similar - like Louis, Lex, Theo... i like Max too but it really doesn't go with our surname. Quite like Oli but our surname is common and so want to avoid top 10, also Oli is basically a reworking of Leo!

It's starting to stress me out calling DS2 "baby" and fending off endless hassle from family on names... DS2 was early so caught us a bit unawares and I've gone off the other names on our shortlist from DS1.

I don't like v traditional or royal names like George, Henry or Edward, but also don't want anything too hipster or old manesque like Arlo, Stanley or Wilf. Generally prefer shorter names as well over Sebastian / Bartholomew etc. Rupert and Hugo feel too posh. Like Joseph but can't use it. I'm shit at this!

Any ideas hugely welcomed!

Thanks - I like Toby and Kit and we had them both on our list at some point, they've both been used by friends though which makes me a little hesitant... Jude and Joseph/ Joe are nice but can't use them as family have. I also like Bram and Torin but they don't go with our surname at all.

Ari is cool too but don't know if it's short for anything.

Please keep them coming!

Love Leo as a name.

What about: Dylan, Dexter, Felix, Finn, Morgan, Alexander (Alex), Monty, Thomas (Tom), Logan, Scott.

Good luck!

I like Blake but always think of Any Winehouse shouting BLAAAKE for some reason when I hear it.

I quite like Dexter and Monty - DH really doesn't.

Alexander is nice but will our v common surname a bit vanilla

I'm leaning towards Toby/ Tobias.

Leo is a lovely name, but I would steer you away from Toby. It seems to a crazily up and coming name, and I think they will be everywhere soon! I am not exaggerating when I say I went to a toddler group yesterday and there were 5 Tobys! between 1 and 5! So maybe avoid it for the same reason you are avoiding Oli!
(Oh an Theo is a very popular name too!)

I think Leo and Patrick sound great together. Patrick is a nice, simple name and there are hardly any around at the moment.

Or:
Leo and Miles
Leo and Marcus
Leo and Timothy(Timmy)
Leo and Peter

All names that are fresh sounding at the moment.

Good Luck!

Or Leo and David (good, classic name, underused these days)

That's interesting re: Toby, I know of a couple... do like Marcus a lot but it doesn't go with surname. When we chose Leo it was up and coming too and is now in top 20!
