Looking for some inspiration for no. 3. DC1 and 2 have accidentally both ended up with names from classic children's books and I'd quite like no 3 to do so as well.

Can you give me suggestions of names that fit this criteria please?

Alice (in wonderland)
Wendy (Peter pan)
Peter (pan, or rabbit)
Harry (potter)

Lucy, Susan (Narnia)

Scout (TKAM)

To be honest I'd imagine most mainstream names have an accompanying fictional character in children's literature if you look for one.

Mary (The Secret Garden)
Clover, Katy (What Katy Did)
John , Susan and Nancy (Swallows and Amazons) maybe not Titty though!
Dora, Oswald, Dicky, Alice, Noel, and Horace Octavius (The Story of the Treasure Seekers)
Anne, Diana, Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables)
Petra, Posy, Pauline (Ballet Shoes)
Robin, Christopher (Winnie the Pooh)
Bonnie, Sylvia (The Wolves of Willoughby Chase)
Emil (Emil and the Detectives)
Carrie (Carrie's War)
Sara (A Little Princess)

fenella probably yes, but would prefer to pick one with a good moral character! For example while I rather like the name Violet, beauregarde is not someone to aspire to!
I'm a big fan of Swallows and Amazons - Nancy, Peggy and Ruth are all on the possible list. Titty less so, as you say!

LotsofDots don't forget Dora too (notice Roger and Dick didn't make the Swallows & Amazons cut either)
Ada (Goth Girl)
Flavia or Miriam (Roman Mysteries)
Philippa (Pippi Longstocking)
Maria (A Little White Horse)
Meg, Jo, Beth or Amy (Little Women)
Clara (Heidi)
Mary, Laura (Little House on the Prairie)
Dorothy (Wizard of Oz)
Simon, Jane, Barney (Over Sea Under Stone)

Cassandra (I Capture The Castle)
Roberta (Bobbie), Phyllis and Peter (The Railway Children)
Tolly/Toseland (The Children of Green Knowe)
Perdita (One Hundred and One Dalmations) she is a dog though!

FennellaFitzWelly Wed 24-Feb-16 12:46:38

Edward, Humphrey, Alice and Edith (Children of the New Forest)
Robert, Anthea, Cyril, Jane and er, The Lamb (Five Children and It)
Gerald, James and Kathleen (The Enchanted Castle)

I do like a bit of E Nesbit

FennellaFitzWelly Wed 24-Feb-16 12:51:47

Ha, yes. I did leave Roger and Dick out. Forgot about Dora though!

nellyflora in theory that would be easier but we are having trouble deciding what we like - hoping that someone will suggest something and I'll go, oh yes, that's perfect!

While I could probably find a book with any name in, our elder two are definitely names you associate with a particular book character when you hear them and I think that is what I'm after...

At the moment I'm leaning towards Nancy
(Perdita - doubt I could convince my husband, but 101D was my absolute favourite book)

Boys are harder...

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Dd is Meg (Little Women)

Her MN is Alice

If we had had another girl, Juliet would have been in there somewhere.

I've just become an aunty to a Lyra :-D IMO a fabulous character to be named after.

evenoldergregg Wed 24-Feb-16 15:54:53

How about Violet Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events?

gnat99 Wed 24-Feb-16 16:37:56

Ooh yes, Lyra is lovely.

More Enid Blyton: Dinah, Fenella, Carlotta.

Chalet School: Richenda....

Perdita is also the long lost daughter in Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale.

LotsofDots Wed 24-Feb-16 17:31:38

evenoldergregg it will always be associated with "Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!"

LotsofDots Wed 24-Feb-16 17:33:24

Posted too early...

Was supposed to say
Will always be associated with "Violet... Etc" in my head, no matter how many others I come across!

DontKillMyVibe Wed 24-Feb-16 19:56:20
