I love Edie!!! (This is one of my absolute favourite ever names, but i'm always concerned she will be mistaken for Eddie and will constantly have to tell people her name)

Next favourites are Erin and Scarlet for girls and Nate (short for Nathan or Nathaniel) and Zac

I'm not keen on Pheobe, Willa (but i quite like Wilhelmina, shortened to Mina) or Leni (how about Leonie instead?)

I don't like Brody (the only Brody's i know are girls and they are horrible people, put me off the name for life)

I like Willa, Erin and Leni (also like this as a nickname for Helena) from your girls list.

From the boys list I like Nate and Leo

Sophronia · 18/02/2016 11:33

I like Lila, Willa and Leo

Edie is possibly my fave too ABitAsleep but the Eddie issue has also crossed my mind.

I can't get on board with Buster. It just creates a mental image of a "gut buster" greasy spoon fry up. It's just a not very nice sounding word.

And then there's Buster Bloodvessel Grin

Seekingmiracles i think it also depends on your last name - My surname requires spelling every single time, so giving her an awkward first name and surname may be a bit mean, but if your last name is relativley simple i dont think it would be as much of a problem.

Obviously I meant to actually write Rafferty rather than Rafftery!
DH really likes Buster but more because it sounds cool with our surname. I initially said it as a joke!
Aerin is a French name - grand daughter of Esteé Lauder. Thought it sounded pretty...
Scarlett will be double T if we did use - another Typo!

It's so interesting reading people opinions Wink

I like Willa, Phoebe, Kitt (but much prefer with one t), Leo and Nate (if it's short for Nathan/Nathaniel).

Edie is OK but feels a bit nicknamey to me, plus it's a big celebrity/trendy choice at the moment so I think it will date quickly. Aerin is nice in theory but I think she'd constantly be referred to as Erin. Most of the rest are a bit too 'American' for me.

We have an Edie. We have occasionally had "Eddie" when people pronounce it from written, but on the whole most people get it right first time

Report
Lottie2611 · 18/02/2016 16:36

Love kit. Like Maggie from your girls list

Report
Tiggeryoubastard · 18/02/2016 16:37

Phoebe and Scarlet are fine. The other girls and especially the boys names are hideous.

Report
jezzathebezza · 18/02/2016 16:43

Shows are we all such different tastes, I much prefer your boys list! Smile They are far from "hideous"??

But love Phoebe from girls & from boys- Jude, Rex and Tate.

Tiggeryoubastard · 18/02/2016 16:51

Sorry to merkin I missed Edie off my list, that's a lovely name, not sure how I missed it.

Report
Seekingmiracles · 18/02/2016 17:07

Good job I'm not a sensitive soul! Lol! Each to their own. There are so many names that I would call 'hideous' but are also pretty popular. Good job we're all different or we'd all have children with the same names.

Girls
Everly - god no
Edie - nice, bit dated now (old lady chic early noughties style)
Aiya - I know it's a name but to me it looks like a wishy washy collection of vowels. Also nanny in Hindi
Aerin - go for Erin without silly spelling
Phoebe - nice
Lila/Lilah - blah, also Kate moss
Maggie - not as a full name
Amber - don't love
Tallulah - stripper name
Leni - cute
Quinn - cute
Scarlet - definitely not, dated and common
Willa - cute
Erin - very common, blah

Boys
Brody - no
Kitt - spelt Kit, yes
Leo - nice
Buster - no way
Zac - not on its own, if you must, spell it Zack
Nate - ok, prefer nathanial as full name
Tate - ummm don't love it
Jude - lovely
Rex - cute
Rafftery - cute

Everly. Brothers. Not a bad association though, but I'd just asumme you or your DP were a fan. Lovely name as well.
Edie. No I don't like it. No reason. Just not to my taste.
Aiya. Very pretty
Aerin. No. Plus I think people would have trouble with the pronunciation which would just be a source of annoyance
Phoebe. It's okay
Lila it's okay
Maggie. Yes very cute, but I'd put Margaret on her BC.
Amber. No. Makes me think of Amber leaf tobacco
Tallulah. Yes. Plus Tally or Lula would be a good nn.
Leni. It's okay, but prefer Lena. More Sophisticated
Quinn. Lovely.
Scarlet. No it's awful
Willa. Gorgeous
Erin. Very bland and unimaginative. Says me with the most boring name in the world.....ClareGrin.

Brody. Chavvy.
Kitt. Yes but why add confusion with the needless extra T.
Leo. It's okay.
Buster. I think it's cute.
Zac. No it's awful.
Nate. Yes but would put Nathan on his BC
Jude. Is gorgeous but prepare for people asking is it after the song of Jude law. Again not a bad association.
Rex. No unless you're having a puppy.Grin
Rafferty. No
