Hi! Have been reading this forum all through my pregnancy and am now posting for help! Husband and I cannot agree on names - we have such different tastes! He likes safe, reasonably common names, I prefer more unusual ones but am also willing to consider ones with a bit of history (a good novel - not those with sad stories tho - or historic character - think science rather than royal tho!)
Sooooo... I'm currently 40 weeks pregnant and we still can't even decide on a proper shortlist...
Dd is called Josephine, dd2 expected anytime. Surname is hyphenated, so long.
Currently we think the following are potentials, but nothing really grabbing us:

Elodie (poss a didi but that's a bit twee..)
Eleanor (Nora/Nell)

Any other suggestions? Ideas on our maybes?

Elodie is lovely. I'd think Elle/Ellie as a nn.

Ada?

Evelyn?

Molly?

I love Elodie, but not keep on Eleanor or Didi.

Eloise/Eloisa
Emmeline/Emmy (My favourite! Emmeline Pankhurst was one of the most famous British suffragettes, not science, but still a good namesake)
Erin
Eliza
Annie
Adelaide/Adeline
Alivia
Serena
Stephanie
Seraphina
Tattiana
Gabrielle/Gabriella
Posy/Posie

I like Elodie and Eleanor but they're both likely to turn into Ellie at school and, if you want to avoid common, Ellie is not the way to go!

I do know a Lena who I only recently realised is actually an Eleanor. And one Eleanor that is never shortened. Other than that though, they're all Ellie; never met a Nel/Nora. I don't know any Elodies at all.

Other ideas:
Astrid (Lindgren)
Aurora (Princess)
Aphra (Behn)
Adeline (Yen Mah)
Bronte (sisters)
Billie (Jean King)
Dorothy (Hodgkin)
Emilie (du Chatelet)
Eva (Peron)
Florence (Nightingale)
Harriet (Beecher-Stowe)
Ida (Noddack)
Mary (Wollstonecroft)
Millicent (Fawcett)
Rosa (Parkes)

Some nice suggestions, thanks! Lots that hubby has bypassed - I adore emmeline and Sylvia but he refused!
Will take some of the new suggestions to him... Keep them coming though!
We both seem to prefer longer names...
