Desperately seeking a make for ds. A friend suggested Ivo and dh who normally dismisses everything actually likes it. I'd never heard of it before but it's quickly growing on me. Thoughts please?!

Never heard of it, is it pronounced Eevo?

I like it. Heard it in Scotland pronounced eye-vo

MaliaGrace · 08/02/2016 21:25

I would pronounce it Eye Vo

Ivor might be better.

I'd think you'd forgotten the "r" on the end.

Ivo short for Ivan?
I like it.

I believe it's pronounced eye-vo. I prefer it without the r on the end. Does it smack of trying to hard? To be fair baby's a week old so at this stage we really are trying!!

Love it.
And it's a Mortal Coil song, too.Smile

If I weren't on my phone, I'd link to the song.

Do it! Great name.

Ah I pronounced it wrongly :) I would be wary of Ivo big 'un or other such hilarious plays on the words 'I've a'

Also as it's a vowel look at the initials of any middle names and surnames

Oh I am so easily swayed by people I've never met! Pleased responses are generally positive. I can't tell if it's the hormones making me like this name I've never heard of before. Is that madness??

I like it. I like the similar Ives as well.

It's nice :) I'd pronounce Ee-vo, but that's because it's not uncommon in my native language (Dutch) with that pronunciation. Suppose most people will go eye-vo in English.

Sorry - it's a Cocteau Twins song: [ here]]

I really wish I'd thought of this name for my ds. Smile

I like it. Don't think it's that unusual. I know an Ivo, and when he is mentioned, people don't constantly say, why the made up name? Ivo's parents I believe named him after a famous cricketer of the same name?

I like it. It reminds me of one of the Scottish twins from Child of Our Time.

It sounds refreshingly simple and uncluttered.

If you both like it after months of searching why not. Just don't ask a multitude of your family members. Pinches it for other threads in Baby Names.

I'm surprised you'd never heard the name before.

It's a good name and has been used in this country (albeit not that often) for a very long time. I know two. One is an Englishman of about 50 and one is a 12yo boy, growing up in England but from a Scottish family. Both pronounced Eye voah with a slight stress on the Eye bit.

Congratulations on your little boy, btw! Thanks
