I'm thinking it's pretty, but slightly different; would really like your views on it smile

Thank you x

Is it a variant of Emlyn for a boy or Emmeline for a girl?

DownWithTitchenor Fri 05-Feb-16 18:11:11

I don't like it - sorry. It sounds clunky.

PooDogMillionaire Fri 05-Feb-16 19:54:41

Pronounced Emmy-Lyn? If so I imagine it said in an American accent in the style of Peggy-Sue or Billy-Ray

GraceS123 Fri 05-Feb-16 19:57:47

I would say it as 'Emme-lyn' (how it looks!)

If you don't want it said this way - go for Emmalyn smile

Sophronia Fri 05-Feb-16 19:58:33

I prefer Emmeline

I think Emmeline is pretty too. Emmelyn could sound like the Deep South if you stress the 'Lynn'

PooDogMillionaire Fri 05-Feb-16 20:04:53

Emmeline is nicer imo

DontKillMyVibe Fri 05-Feb-16 20:07:27

Emmeline is much nicer IMO

MarieJeanne Fri 05-Feb-16 20:07:44

I prefer Emmeline. It's one of my favourite girls' name.

CharmingChampignon Fri 05-Feb-16 20:17:01

I wouldn't be sure about the pronunciation. Emmeline is very pretty.

(I have an irrational dislike of -lyn names. Evelyn being so popular is a confusion to me. I think it feels outdated, reminds me of Marilyn)

Seems a bit contrived

stiffstink Fri 05-Feb-16 20:29:38

I say it in my head like Emlyn Hughes.

I think she'd marry billy Bob

Also Hughes.

I love Emmeline but am not keen on this spelling TBH.

turdfairynomore Sat 06-Feb-16 18:56:58

My first crush...the very lovely late Emlyn Hughes! Who called his children Emma Lynn and Emlyn!

SuburbanRhonda Sat 06-Feb-16 19:00:16

I have a friend in her 50s called Emilyn - I think it's a lovely name smile

Like other contributors I prefer Emmeline. It sounds classier and is named after some awesome women.

MadameDePompom Sun 07-Feb-16 00:43:33

That's hilarious turdfairy. He obviously had a ummm, 'healthy' ego! grin

playftseforme Sun 07-Feb-16 00:45:23

Sorry, also conjours up thoughts of Emlyn Hughes

MrsTerryPratchett Sun 07-Feb-16 02:55:26

If you want Emme-Lyn then that's one thing. Emmeline is much nicer, though.

Monkeymonstermum Sun 07-Feb-16 05:30:19

Ah, didn't realise Emlyn Hughes was no longer with us sad - and now you've said it does remind me of him.

Agree - don't like Emmelyn for a girl at all I'm afraid - how about Emma? Beautiful name, classic and actually not overly used these days.

Monkeymonstermum Sun 07-Feb-16 05:31:06

Or Evangeline?
