I'm 34 weeks pregnant and still stuck for a name for dd3 on her way. I previously posted about the name Tiger and got mixed responses. It's still in the running though.
I'm drawn to the name Jean, dds 1&2 have 'old lady' names so it would work but I'm not sure if Jean is an ugly name. What do you think of when you hear it?

As an aside I absolutely love the name Billie-Jean but am in no way a Michael Jackson fan and I don't want to subject the poor girl to a lifetime of that! What other names sound nice hyphened with either Billie or Jean?

I think the ship has sailed for Jean but Jeannie could be nice.

Twooter Sun 24-Jan-16 20:26:09

I hate Jean. Sorry.

RiverTam Sun 24-Jan-16 20:26:27

I really don't like it but I'm not a fan of old lady names anyway.

Sparklycat Sun 24-Jan-16 20:28:53

Spell it Jeanne (French way) to make it a bit better smile

Humble314 Sun 24-Jan-16 20:29:05

I like it. It's so refreshingly simple. I would use Jeannie though.

I know somebody called Jean and she goes by Jane because she hates Jean so much but she is about 50.

I also like Jane.

Tiger...not good.

Jean...really fabulous, I love it. Cool, but also old lady, v. Sixties, funky.

Billie-Jean...not nice.

Thumbcat Sun 24-Jan-16 20:30:28

I really like Jeannie but find Jean a bit dreary.

DancingDuck Sun 24-Jan-16 20:34:24

I like Jean and Jeannie - really elegant and cute. Great name (but I like retro names.)

DontKillMyVibe Sun 24-Jan-16 20:34:33

Jeannie much better IMO

Madnson Sun 24-Jan-16 20:38:57

Love love love Jean smile

iciclewinter Sun 24-Jan-16 20:39:37

I think Tiger is a great name.

Jean is a bit dull and Jeannie is too much like genie.

Provencalroseparadox Sun 24-Jan-16 20:39:56

I like Jean

Provencalroseparadox Sun 24-Jan-16 20:40:09

And I like Tiger

GreenRug Sun 24-Jan-16 20:41:44

I love the name Jean, sounds simple but different, you don't hear it these days.

Hepzibar Sun 24-Jan-16 20:42:48

I like Jean.

OP please avoid Billie at all costs. It's dreadful. I work in education - it's dreadful believe me.

Sunshine511 Sun 24-Jan-16 20:43:14

This is probably going to sound really weird but something I really hate about the name Jean is, if you say 'Hi Jean', it's like hygiene!! Haha. Sorry, I know that's weird but I know a lady called Jean and everytime I say it, it bothers me! Lol.x

JeanGenie23 Sun 24-Jan-16 20:43:30

I love it smile

MouldyPeach Sun 24-Jan-16 20:43:38

Thanks for the input everyone. I do not like Jeannie, can't explain why just an instant 'no'.

I know most people hate Tiger, found that out last time I posted on here, but I don't think that will stop me if she turns out looking like she'd suit the name orange and stripy

FellOutOfBedTwice Sun 24-Jan-16 20:44:00

Have a relation called Jeannie who does get "Jean Genie" sung at her a lot. David Bowie dying has not helped that but it could be consigned to the past by the time your daughter is older.

MouldyPeach Sun 24-Jan-16 20:45:48

Haha I hadn't considered hi Jean / hygiene!

hepz do you mean you've only encountered awful Billies? Or something else?

parrotonmyshoulder Sun 24-Jan-16 20:45:56

Love Jean and Joan. And Jeanie and Joanie.

My DD has an older, but not 'old lady' name. I love it. She's 6 now and people seem a bit taken aback by it sometimes. I don't mind that though, and she doesn't notice.
