I love it. Needs the right surname for it, which I don't have!

I'm not keen on gemstones as names so couldn't really comment on whether it's appropriate.

It's quite.....................jazzy. And a bit Danielle Steele.

I like Saffy for short though.

Why is it only ok for an autumn baby? I'm not being goady, I just can't make the link and it's bothering me! For some reason which I can't explain I would put it in the Crystal category rather than the Ruby category (if we were categorising that way). It just seems more 'princessy' than say Ruby. I can't think of any more gemstone names...

Jacqueline Wilson book! Also the title of my 10yo dd's book... So not a name I would take seriously. Sorry. A bit chavvy?

Lap dancer. (There's a Sapphire 'nightclub' near me)

I know a Topaz with a sister called Jade.

Opal
Ruby
Pearl

Not keen to be honest.

As a pp said, a lap dancer.
Or Bombay Blue Sapphire.

Neither are good.

I like it.

Saffron is a nice alternative too.

Bond girl or, yes, Danielle Steel. Sorry I don't like it.

It is a really pretty word. I'm just not sure about its associations. Maybe as a middle name?

BrennieGirl · 19/01/2016 23:03

No. Too Jilly Cooper.

I like it. It's certainly unusual but my own name falls under that category so I find unusual names (with in reason) a blessing I suppose.

If you like it go for it.

Oh & by the way I know a lap dancer called Olivia (that's her stage name) so I think that's uncalled for.

It's the name of one of Katie Price's novels so I think it does have a certain 'glamour girl' connotation. It is pretty though but better as a middle name I think.

It definitely makes a statement - OK for an extrovert? Or if you are quite posh maybe? It could easily be chavvy though. I would never chose it but sort of like it although I guess many won't.

Agree with COCKTAILQUEEN, the word is v beautiful, love the sound and the syllables. Its a shame that as a names it does not work as well.

I'm not keen on gemstones as names, but I don't think Sapphire is seasonal in any way - it would be equally suitable for a winter / spring / summer baby as for an autumn baby IMO.

Report
Qwebec · 19/01/2016 23:14

Oh how about Safira?

Report
PaigeyK · 19/01/2016 23:16

sorry, i didnt mean seasonal, i meant a september baby... would probably use it as a middle name...

Ah, birthstones! And I forgot about Jade and Pearl. I think Jade is quite 90's but Pearl is old lady chic like Elsie and Betty. Saffron is much nicer. Safira is pretty but isn't there a car called a Zafira?
