I have just found out i am expecting a girl, choose the name Beatrice but on looking it up seems to be rather popular, i would rather my daughters name was not the same as anyone else in her class at school. I have a 7 year old called Dawn and am yet to met another Dawn under 35, and a 17 year old called Sebastian and i hate how many little sebbies i encounter in the park!Is Beatrice a name that is going to shoot up the name charts?

Round here it is (N London)

I know a couple (also north London) but I wouldn't say it was like Oscar (yet).

I've never met a single Beatrice.

I am Eastbourne, don't think Oscar is that popular down here.Maybe the trends take a while to travel down to sleepy old Eastbourne!

I know of two women named Beatrice (South Wales) - one is 18 and the other is 26. I don't know of any children named Beatrice. The name is absolutely lovely.

London, I know three Beatrice's (all known as Bea), all under 10

SoWhite Sat 16-Jan-16 13:12:21

Yeah, it is very trendy with aspirational 30s Londoners. Those trends tend to spill out, so I'd avoid.

Beatrice was my fave name will be racking my brains for some
thing else but if i find nothing else i will stick with it

Whoknewitcouldbeso Sat 16-Jan-16 19:52:50

I know of one.

Bea is lovely Gem, so I wouldn't worry too much. Popular names are popular because they are lovely, generally.

How about Dorothy? Dot is a great nm.

I know one - a 3 year old. I LOVE the name! Our surname starts with an O though and don't think BO are good initials, hence out for us!

I know at least 4. Essex.

I cannot believe it's 'getting too popular'.

It's my baby girl name, if we ever have a girl! No one used to even mention it! Now it's getting too bloody popular!

Faints at at least four in Essex grin

This was posted three years ago Is Beatrice going stellar

Don't panic toffee. 2 of mine aren't actually IN Essex. Born to lawyers in London... Not sure that improves things though.

Three in south east one in the midlands all under 7.

The first time I heard it I thought it was unusual.. Still think Bea is v pretty though!

I know two babies (one London one Yorkshire); and a 13 year old. As well as a couple of adults. Lovely name.
