Baby names

Short (slightly quirky) Boys names....like Finn & Seb?

Hi All! Baby boy is due in a few weeks and we're struggling on names - we both really like Finn but are a bit worried it will be very popular due to Star Wars?

Other names I like are Felix, Milo, Jasper...
Any ideas would be much appreciated! :-)

Finn is already popular where I am (west Scotland)

What about Seth? Christy? Mungo?

Or there's a Ted and a Roy in dd1's class. Not names I would have thought of but have totally grown on me.

These are great, thank you!

Roux is wonderful - I had no idea that was a name! We have 50/50 chance of baby coming out ginger...

Roux is a bit saucy! Not in the Carry On way but the culinary way.

Jasper is the one I like most from that shortlist. Roux if he's a redhead would be fantastic!

As short quirky names go the name Sage is still one I find hard to get my head round.

Going by the 'place name that means something to you' strategy, anywhere that springs to mind? Kent? Alban? Dane?

Years' ago there were comments made about the names chosen by Sarah Palin and her DH for their children. The boys have short snappy names:
Track, the first-born and oldest son, was given that name because of his parents' interest in athletics and he was born during the track season!
Trig is a norse name which means brave victory.

I knew a Dax, which I thought was a great name.

Agree Finn is enormously popular already - it's a good name, but I'd avoid it if you want something a bit more unusual.

Finn is way overused imo, even before Star Wars.. think this will date badly. Don't like the sound of Seb, it sounds quite weak as a name.

I really like

Quinn (Quentin)
Milo (but it is a drink in many parts of the world)
Zeb (Zebedee)
Ash (Ashton)
Sol (Solomon)

I like Kit (short for Christopher) and Jem (short for James)

Report
Ilovegummibears · 15/01/2016 14:24

Yes, Jem is great too, I like it short for Jeremy.

Report
MitzyLeFrouf · 15/01/2016 14:25

Oh no Jeremy is an awful name. Jem should be short for James.
