Thoughts on the name Tabitha (nickname Tabby)

One Dd already called Florence

MoreGilmoreGirls Mon 11-Jan-16 17:31:30

I like it smile

PollyPocket100 Mon 11-Jan-16 17:35:08

Lovely !

Kingfisherfree Mon 11-Jan-16 17:36:45

Nice for a cat - sorry, but love Florence.

FunkyPeacock Mon 11-Jan-16 17:38:05

I don't love it but don't hate it either

For some reason I struggle to imagine a grown woman called Tabitha and feel it is better suited to a child. I have no idea why as I don't know anyone IRL (adult or child) with this name.

Fatfreefaff Mon 11-Jan-16 17:38:47

Sorry but whenever I hear that name I think of Tabitha Twitchett from Beatrix Potter.

Thanks for your replies!

I have no opinion on it whatsoever. A totally fine name.

AuntieStella Mon 11-Jan-16 18:03:24

I think it's lovely.

Roomba Mon 11-Jan-16 18:09:17

I like it a lot. I know two - one is nine and the other late 40s. I would use it for a girl.

Only1scoop Mon 11-Jan-16 18:11:11

Love it

DizzyDancer Mon 11-Jan-16 18:12:49

I like it

Used to have a cat called tabitha but she was named after the little girl from bewitched cos my mum was Samantha

Figwin Mon 11-Jan-16 18:15:59

In my head it's a cat name but obviously it was a human name first, just not around that often but you wouldn't think twice if you met someone with that name

fessmess Mon 11-Jan-16 18:17:02

Love it. But then I have a teenage one!

nellyflora Mon 11-Jan-16 18:21:33

Love it know an 8 year old one! You do have to be happy with witchy and cat associations but I personally think that's half the charm.

Vixxfacee Mon 11-Jan-16 18:27:37

Dislike alot.

DandyDan Mon 11-Jan-16 18:33:45

Love it, and love Tabby as a nn too.

ditavonteesed Mon 11-Jan-16 19:09:27

I have a Tabitha, nn Tabi, I love it obviously

Daffydil Mon 11-Jan-16 19:12:24

I love it, and it would be on my short list, but I already have a Felix, and it might be a bit too catty to have both!

Quietattheback Mon 11-Jan-16 19:13:58

Love it too but I think it's one of those marmite names.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Mon 11-Jan-16 19:26:54

Cute for a kitten. Daft for a baby. But according to this thread. Im very much in the minority, in my thinking.
Youve given your first dd a gorgeous elegant classic name like Florence. You should keep up the tradition, and follow suit with another classic name.

villainousbroodmare Mon 11-Jan-16 19:33:12

Pleasant but witchy/ catty imo. I'd agree with Iliveinalighthouse that it's got a different feel to it from Florence (which I love).

FlysInDreams Mon 11-Jan-16 19:42:46

I like it, but DH didn't - said it was a cat name

Borninthe60s Mon 11-Jan-16 20:20:13

Great name for a cat.

PrimalLass Mon 11-Jan-16 20:20:58

Love it. DD's best friend is called Tabitha.
