I love the colour and I love the name but DP seems to think it's a pointless name. Please some support?

I think it's lovely but would wonder what she'd get for a nn?!

Well, she'll probably get called toilet, bog, lav etc, so probably not.

Nooo - she'd just get called Lav

Love it but think it's better for a middle name, then it won't get shortened to Lav.

It's a lovely feminine name however my great aunt was lavander and she was known as lavvie and lav to her friends and family... which I don't think is a great nn

My first thought was of The Chalet School and Lavender Laughs.

HP is of course vastly more widely known, so the association now would be Lavender Brown. Are you OK with that?

No.

Better as a middle name, definitely. I know of an Autumn Lavender which I think is utterly beautiful, would u consider something like that?

I love Lavender, DP has put his foot down if we have another DD but it is beautiful

Children will always come up with stupid nicknames, don't let that put you off.

Personally I don't like it, but it is unusual which you could consider a plus.

Myself and DD watched Matilda yesterday. Lavender is the name of her friend. I quite like it. X
