Elinor is a perfectly normal spelling. Jane Austen used it and I don't think she was a twat, really.

DD's name is Eleanor so I obviously love it. Have seen it spelled Elinor before too. Can be shortened many ways and suits DD to a T!

Elinor is on our shortlist, so obviously I love the name. This spelling is how my grandmother spells it and is also the main way it's spelled in Sweden, which is our heritage. Anyone who says it's not a legitimate spelling must be the twat 😝

DD is Eleanor and I've seen it as Elenor, Elanor and Elinor. It's a beautiful name, however it's spelled!

DD is el-len-or, though Elinor is el-in-or, Elanor is el-an-nor and Elenor is, I think, el-en-or, same as Eleanor.

It's a very pretty name but because it's such a minority (although still perfectly legitimate) spelling she will have to spell it out and correct people a lot. She will become "ElinorwithanI" - all one word. But that's not the worst fate, and it wouldn't put me off a name I really loved.

It sounds however you want it to sound! I'm probably going to out myself here but DS is Joseph but I've always pronounced it Jo-sef, not Jo-zif. He gets irritated by people pronouncing it Jo-zif.
