Hi there,
Totally stuck for a boys name! 7 weeks to go and the usual, dh and I cannot agree on anything. Both children conceived after many rounds of IVF. Mia means 'longed for child' and I love her name. The 2 runners we have at the moment are Euan (no particular reason) and Sam. I don't want anything too 'out there'. I'd like the name to 'mean' something nice, iykwim. The only drawback with Euan is people will day 'Mia and Euan' which sounds like 'me and you!' Well, maybe they wouldn't but am paranoid smile Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you

The me and you bit made me think as well, but then I'm as deep as the ocean when it comes to names. I think to be on the safe side. I'd go with Sam.

Thanks ilive. Yeah it's something to think about, you wonder if others will pick up on it or am I overthinking it! Forgot a reason for Euan was because 3 of the letters are in my maiden name, and the letters Mia are in my first name. Like they are 'part' of me grin Needs a rethink!

Love Mia Grace and considering it for my bean of its a girl! I like Alex for a boy but from your two I'd go with Sam. It's nice they're both 3 letters too, it flows better

Hi JW yep love the name Mia Grace, I'd go for it! We still get the Mya pronunciation occasionally but just correct it smile I have Alex on my list since before I had dd who is almost 5, vetoed by dh for some reason. I also like Noah but that's a no(ah) from dh also.

Love Mia, but I worried about the Mya pronunciation! I quite liked the Meah spelling, but not enough to go with it, we're due a boy anyway! I like Euan, but maybe Sam a little more, will he just be a Sam? If so, I do love the NN Sammy ;)

Naughty1205 Sat 02-Jan-16 23:29:33

Thanks Muffin and best of luck with your baby boy! We know this one's a boy too! Never thought of Sammy, that's quite cute! We would probably officially go with Samuel but use Sam, nn Sammy. I don't know why my heart is more set on Euan. Sigh.

Euan is really nice too, go with it or you'll regret it! I went with my 2nd favourite boy name for DS1 and regretted it, so I'm SO happy this is a boy, so I get to use it (I do still love DS1's name, but was so worried I would never get to use my favourite!)

It's so hard to choose a boys name, much more than a girls! This will be our last child so no other opportunities to use names, unless second names of course. Another one to ponder now grin Have a book here 40,001 best baby names. Will start rifling through it lol

I like Samuel/Sam.

EllenTheEgret Sun 03-Jan-16 08:43:28

Sam is a really nice name but Euan is lovely and somehow more "substantial" to my ears. Especially if it means something to you. I totally missed the "me & you" thing and don't think it's a big deal.

Naughty1205 Sun 03-Jan-16 10:46:14

Thanks all. Yeah I know myself my heart is set on Euan but just have this question mark. Then again, I had the same thing with Mia, thinking it was too like 'miaow', I'm over that now but it was there! Appreciate your input, some interesting names to mull over smile

tuilamum Sun 03-Jan-16 15:47:03

Euan Samson has a nice ring to it

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We have decided on Euan Joseph Brendan. Those 2 names are of the grandfathers, and my husband also Brendan. Didn't want to leave my own father out of the mix though I know it won't be used! Hopefully I won't start dithering again. Thanks! thanks

A lovely name. And not many around , so will hopefully continue to sound fresh! (this is an obsession of mine!)

Congratulations on deciding!

Thank you both grin

Because of the 'me and you' sound, I would go for Sam - gorgeous name! Or what about Struan?

Ipushedmygrannyaffabus Wed 13-Jan-16 00:51:47

Oops sorry - just seen update! Euan IS a great name smile

Blushingm Wed 13-Jan-16 18:32:14
