What are your thoughts on this as a stand alone name?

Like Isabella but popularity puts me off and I don't LOVE it whereas Issie is a name that I've always imagined calling my daughter.

Is it too close to ISIS???

As an alternative what about Ishbel, then you could call her Ishy? A friend's wee girl is called this and it's lovely.

If you want to call her Issie, just call her Issy, don't worry about having a "proper" name and permanently shortening it. Wouldn't make me think of ISIS one bit

Mine is Izzy because we say that NN with a definite Z not S sound. Rhymes with fizzy not hissy.

I know a Kizzy - technically not short for anything but can be short for Catherine/Kathryn or whatever other version you like - could also be short for Keziah I guess.

My friend's daughter is Isolde (we're not in the UK). She has the nickname Issy. She is a lively and kind child and the nickname seems to suit her.
