Please comment on my list...

My favourite names are Beatrix and Alexander, I think, but there are still a few more names in the mix. My surname begins with an 'H'. I obviously don't know the gender of my baby! Middle names are very likely to be Eleanor or Robert. Just FYI - my DH doesn't like Blythe or Benjamin - I'd have Ben in a flash if he'd let me!!

My favourites would be Blythe or Alexander. I'm not keen on Chloe, Charlotte is ok and Beatrix is nice. Sebastian, Willaim and Benjamin are all fine too. With the exception of Blythe, I find them a bit bland for my taste but they are all names that would take you through life without major comment or issue. Chloe does seem a bit past it though - I wouldn't deem it a classic.

You could have Benedict instead of Benjamin and Sylvester is a change from Sebastian maybe.

Chloe is lovely, and Charlotte is nice. Not keen on Beatrix for some reason, I don't really like the way it sounds in English 'beer-tricks'. Don't really like surname type names, though Blythe is probably one of the best of these.

All your boy names are really nice, except maybe William which is a bit duller than the others. A classic though, obviously.

Blythe reminds me of "blithe", and Chloe is a name on the show " Dance Moms", which I loathe.

I like Sebastian but I don't think it's as classic as Alexander. William and Benjamin are nice but not overly exciting. Of course, exciting isn't necesaarily what you want in a baby name! I quite like Blythe - pretty without being overly girly.

And what a sweeping generalisation otherusername Chloe is still top 20 so mustn't be all used by teenage mums and last time I checked we weren't still in the 90s. Also what the hell is wrong with Chloe being used by single teenage mums??

I don't really like any of your girls names sorry, all a bit twee for me. Love your boys though, all apart from William which is just a bit bland/boring for me. Fav probably Sebastian followed by Benjamin.

Absolutely nothing deepblue but compared to the OPs other names it really stands out as being "of it's time" and used by a particular section of society.

It may be a regional thing though. I don't know any under 20, it doesn't seem popular any more here.

I love the name Blythe! I would totally use it for a little girl except that I have a large collection of Blythe dolls, which would make it more than a little weird! I like all your boy names (although I removed Sebastian from my boy list because I'm not too keen on "Seb") but probably Alexander the most.

I prefer your girls names and love them all apart from Chloe. My favourite is Charlotte.

Your boys names are a little dull and I would also avoid William due to the Willy teasing potential.

Chloe - I do like it but it's very common where I'm from
Charlotte - not keen
Blythe - worse than Beatrix (I know a couple of people with this as there surname)

Alexander - a lovely classic, not too overused
Sebastian - don't like, especially don't like Seb as a nn
William - not so keen
Benjamin - don't like but I would like Ben as a nn

Blythe and Alexander or William would be my picks. Don't like the way Beatrix sounds and Charlotte and Chloe are too bland for my taste. Benjamin's OK but a bit dull - so many Bens around - and Sebastian always seems a bit wet/precious to me.

Blythe is lovely and both Alexander and William, though very popular, are classic and timeless.

I'm going to buck the trend and go with Chloe.

It's a lovely name, ok, very popular in the 90s, but that was 15 years ago.
You wont have a bunch of Chloes in your class.

I think Alexander is still coming up too for me, and agree that William is a bit of a weaker name (v sorry to those with lo's called William).

I still love Beatrix but can see it's a real marmite name. Same with Blythe - I know someone with the surname too, but it hasn't put me off.

I honestly thought of Chloe is more of a middle class, potentially public school, sort of name. Interesting to see my stereotyping was the opposite of one reply! I've never thought of there being 'single mum names', which seems as prejudiced as calling a name a 'council estate name' which I've seen written before. Still like it, but not as much as my marmite names

Queazy - I think it really depends on where you live. I can only comment on the use as I've seen it - clearly names are not always used universally by the same groups across the country. I grew up on a very rough council estate but don't live in one now. I certainly don't have anything against council estates or council estate children or indeed anything personal against single teen mums. I was specifically trying to avoid calling names chavy etc. What I was trying to say is that it was one of those trendy names in the 90s that if you were a teenager you'd be thinking was a cool name for a baby and then when you were grown up and having one you'd think "I can't believe i wanted to call my baby that" but if you'd actually had the baby then, you'd have used it.

There are loads of nice names that fall into that same bracket, but I would never use them because of the associations of teen-mumness that they have for me - i.e. not names that grown adults would use.

There are many others that people on here seem to like/love but have exactly the same association for me such as Caitlyn, Aiden, Leighton, Molly, Shannon etc.

I remember when I was a teenager thinking Candy was a great name.

Beatrix is okasy but I prefer Beatrice. She opt for either Trixie or Beatie as nn. If she wishes.
Chloe is loveley and quite unique now.
Charlotte a bit meh and over used
Blythe. I don't know. I think it's one of those names. Gorgeous on the right person and if it suits but hideous on the wrong person.

Alexander. Nice enough name but a bit Meh and dull
Sebastian is gorgeous
William is a classic name that will carry him well through each stage of his life.
Benjamin. I love Ben but can't stand Benjamin.
