To pass the time while we wait to start fertility treatment (in February.)

For girls we love:

Hannah
Harriet
Flora
Madeline
Astrid - not sure: we love the meaning but not completely sure about the name itself.

For boys we both really like:

Charles (Charlie)
William
Wilfred
Edward (Ted a possible nickname)
Nicholas

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome Smile

Hannah. Beautiful, classy, elegant. Suits you through every stage of your life. And as pp says. Not as popular now.
Harriet is horrible They're everywhere. Getting tedious now
Flora margarine. It's like Laura gone wrong.
Madeleine is beautiful.
Astrid not a fan sorry. It makes me think astral cream

Charlie Too many of them.
William. Great name and there are lots of nns he could opt.
Wilfred. Not to my taste.
Edward. Not to my taste.
Nicholas. Loveley name, be a great choice if you give birth Christmas 2016.

Please remember these are only my opinions. Certainly not facts.
Oh indeed good luck with your fertility treatment.

Hannah - my cousin Grin love it, Hannahs are always lovely
Harriet - me! I like being a Harriet. Family call me Harry which I like even more. I think some people think Harriet is quite 'jolly hock sticks' or horsey but I've never shared that view.
Flora - pretty
Madeline - nice, I think it's usually Madeleine?
Astrid - not sure: we love the meaning but not completely sure about the name itself. LOVE, my fave on your list.

For boys we both really like:

Charles (Charlie) - Charlie is sweet, Charles I just instantly imagine the Prince
William - solid, handsome
Wilfred - really not my taste, too stuffy
Edward (Ted a possible nickname) - as Wilfred. Love Theodore nn Teddy though
Nicholas - gorgeous! Fave on your boy's list. I'd use it myself but it's another of my cousins.

Hannah - ok maybe a bit boring
Harriet - adore it esp Hattie as nn- this dc was going to be Harriet Elinor but doesn't quite work for a boy ;)
Flora - it's ok
Madeline - I would alway think of mccan
Astrid - not my cup of tea

Charles (Charlie) - love Charles was on my short list for this dc but ruled out as I really dislike Charlie as nn
William - like it but very popular Bill is a fab nn though
Wilfred - love it and Wilf
Edward -everywhere at the moment so popular!
Nicholas - ok

Good luck with treatment OP :)

Hannah- boring. I went to school with literally dozens of them and I'm just bored of it. Anna I love though! (?!)
Harriet- bit posh. I quite like Hattie as nn. My opinions on this name are totally coloured by personal association though!
Flora- I really love Flora and don't think of margarine, but get put off by the number of people who I think do
Madeline- LOVE! But prefer with an extra e. I.e. Madeleine
Astrid- I really like this but I don't think I'd be brave enough.

Charles (Charlie)- I quite like Charles but Charlie is yawn.
William- meh.
Wilfred- too stuffy.
Edward (Ted a possible nickname)- nice. A bit meh again.
Nicholas- LOVE! underused and classic.

To sum up- Madeleine and Nicholas!

Adelaide, Eleanor, Imogen?
Christopher, Benjamin, Dominic?

Astrid and Wilfred.

Hannah - I've never cared for Hannah. It's always seemed to boring, like she might as well not have a name. I feel the same way about Sarah. I'd definitely prefer Anna.

Harriet - Harriet is cute. I love the nickname Hattie.

Flora - I don't think I'd use it but I'd be happy to see it on another person's child. It's much nicer than Florence.

Madeline - I like it with the -line pronunciation, which I know isn't correct. I don't like it as much when pronounced Madelyn.

Astrid - I think it's a cool name. It's certainly not soft or particularly feminine, but it doesn't need to be.

For boys we both really like:

Charles (Charlie) - Love, traditional classic. A bit expected, but still nice.

William - William's my favorite of the solid classics. Beautiful.

Wilfred - quirky. I kinda like it.

Edward - I love Edward but cannot get behind Ted. I'd prefer Teddy.

Nicholas - Nice though unremarkable.

Overall I think it's a really nice list. What about Greta, Louisa, Frederick, or Edwin?

Hannah- perfectly decent name. I've just never liked it. Went to school with hundreds.
Harriet- I like it. It's not the prettiest name, though.
Flora- gorgeous
Madeleine- beautiful and elegant (with this spelling)
Astrid- kick-ass!

Charles- like
William- best name ever! (Biased)
Wilfred- awful
Edward- love, but not keen on Ted or Ed. Bear?
Nicholas- love. Love Nikolai even more but we're far too English to pull that off.

Best of luck for February! Smile

Hannah -nice, perfectly good name but is becoming dated. I went to school with heaps back in the 90s.
Harriet - love it.
Flora - really dislike.
Madeline - very nice and I prefer that spelling.
Astrid - I like it.

For boys we both really like:

Charles (Charlie) - not keen.
William - fine, again boring but a respectable name.
Wilfred - terrible, very 'old man' to me.
Edward - okay
Nicholas - love, love.

I like all your girls' names and none of your boys' names. Charlie at a push.

Report
Stollenlover · 09/12/2015 12:59

I really like Flora.

I'm not keen on any of the others, the boys names are a little dull and the William I know gets teased with Willy quite a lot.
