So, DD is due very soon and we cannot decide between these! Her brother is Noah smile

Sorry, I don't like either. Sydney sounds like a boy's name and Gracelyn sounds very American. What about Grace?

LaurenW09 Mon 07-Dec-15 18:38:17

I think Sidney is more of the male version and I guess Gracelyn does sound American, but is that a bad thing? I do like Grace, but we are going for a 1 syllable middle name, so would be nice to have 2 syllables for FN smile

I do like Gracie and would use that as a NN for Gracelyn - not sure if it's too nicknamey for a FN hmm

I love Sydney and Syd is so cute for short. Was on our shortlist for DD. It probably won't be to everyone's taste but I think it's great, love it.

What about Sadie?

whatdoIget Mon 07-Dec-15 19:48:59

Sidonie? (sp)

LaurenW09 Mon 07-Dec-15 19:52:21

Sadie is okay, but there are a few names I would pick before that. Also, Sidonie is alright, but I feel like it sounds quite old-fashioned. Whereas Sydney has a really nice edge to it, IMO and it isn't massively common

Sydney is fabulous. I only know one and she's 21.

BlackberryandNettle Mon 07-Dec-15 21:27:01

Sydney by a mile!

CraigRevelHorwoodsPetCat Mon 07-Dec-15 21:33:08

I love Sydney. I have a Sidney the slightly biased grin

BikeRunSki Mon 07-Dec-15 21:37:32

Sydney, of those two.

Paddletonio Mon 07-Dec-15 21:37:59

Grace (not Gracelyn)

AGBforever Mon 07-Dec-15 21:46:43

Yes, Sydney sounds elegant & modern, Gracelyn would probably work well if you live in Tennessee?

DreamBigGuys Mon 07-Dec-15 22:18:55

Love them both smile

IoraRua Mon 07-Dec-15 22:31:56

Gracelyn = Elvis to me. Wasn't his estate Graceland?

I'd go for Sydney.

calzone Mon 07-Dec-15 22:34:37

Sydney Grace

Gracelyn is not nice.

Sydney sounds to masculine for my liking.

NadiaWadia Tue 08-Dec-15 00:12:13

Gracelyn is OK, though just Grace is better.
Sydney is an old man's name, at least that's the association I have. Sorry. Sadie much nicer.

annandale Tue 08-Dec-15 00:14:48

By the time I read another thread with names new to me, I'd really grown to like the more unusual one.

PinkClouds12 Tue 08-Dec-15 02:10:51

I really like them both, but Sydney just has that edge! Go with that smile
