Boys names NOT in the top 100

Need desperate help finding a boys names for baby due in 5 weeks. We don't like common/popular names. All of my friends' boys names fit nicely into the Ollie, James, and Alfie categories, and I am just not into those trendy names at the moment. I want something completely unique, but still a "strong" name and not something I have to spell. Can someone please inspire with a strong yet uncommon boys name?

I have a Carter and a Sullivan. Definitely outside top 100!

Congrats on the impending birth of your son. They are amazing Thanks

I have a Travis.

It was a toss up between that, Lawrence and Rex (but the cat is Rex so we came to our senses).

I definitely like the idea of a typical 'surname' as a first name. Love Carter and Sullivan :) good choices

This might sound like an obvious question, but have you tried actually looking at the baby name charts? You can download the full list as a spreadsheet. You and DH note down all the names you like, and see if there's any crossover. That's how we named our son. Just inside top 100 though.

I'll just hunt for the link.

Boys names are really hard. Anything outside the top one hundred always seems really unusual. I really wanted Hudson, DH wanted some names that I doubt have ever been used in real life. We concurred on Reuben, Dexter and Sebastian.

I have a David I know it's not unique but we have only met one other his age! This is just inside the top 50. So you can see what the chances are of a name being popular among peers. I wouldn't discount the top 100 on that basis.

OMG there were three boys named Zulquarnain on that table? Is this a common name in a different culture? What am I missing???

Other names from the bottom of that list:

Rudyard
Roderick
Lester
Greg
Gibson
Diggory
Crispin
Alphonse
and Cloud.

But I wouldn't go with Cloud, if I were you.

There's some great names outside the top 100. We were thinking about Carter as a middle name for DS but went with Lawson. His first name is 600 something on that list.

If you're into surnames Lincoln and Hudson caught my eye.

Good I love reading the bottom bits of the baby names table! (That was probably the gimpiest sentence I've ever written.)

Rex, just brilliant.

I really loved Lincoln and Lachlan too although decided we would look like weird US president fanatics if we went with Lincoln!
If we had a third at it was a boy, I love Vaughn. Means little in welsh.

Surnames for first names get mixed reviews on MN but we've had nothing but compliments on our two. Sullivan especially gets lots of positive feedback.

It's so interesting how low the ordinary names of my childhood are, like Paul and Simon (pleasingly) together at 305. And the Marks, Philips and Richards down in the 200s and 300s.
