Also, if I go with Noah - is Leah a big no?

MrsGradyOldLady Fri 04-Dec-15 15:11:37

I like it but I'm reading it as sounding like "Lee". Is it not pronounced thar way? Is it more "lee-ah'?

MrsGradyOldLady Fri 04-Dec-15 15:12:40

Oh no I'm thinking of "Leigh" I think. I think I prefer that especially with Noah.

Allalonenow Fri 04-Dec-15 15:14:12

I really like Leah.
Are you naming twins?

AssembleTheMinions Fri 04-Dec-15 15:18:29

I love Leah, it's one of my favourite names. I probably wouldn't use it with Noah (which is also lovely) though.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 15:18:54

It's pronounced like Noah, but instead of 'No', it's 'Le' - so it's 2 syllables! Yep! Twins! We had her name sorted, but we have both gone off it - my DM just named her kitten the name we were going to use and now it's a big no!

Allalonenow Fri 04-Dec-15 15:31:25

Although I like Leah very much, I don't think I'd use it together with Noah, it's too similar.
What about Leonie, that's a lovely name?

Leonie and Noah.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 15:35:01

Leonie is really nice smile but MIL is Leona and I think it would be too close! Is Noelle too much like Noah?

MyNewBearTotoro Fri 04-Dec-15 15:38:55

I think Leah is pretty but it is quite similar to Noah. Personally I don't like 'samey' twin names but they're not completely uncommon so maybe not a reason to veto the name.

However I do think Noelle is definitely way too close to Noah, maybe it's having the same sound at the beginning which makes it more obvious. If the choice is Leah or Noelle I'd go Leah, however unless you are looking for 'matching' names I think better to steer clear of anything starting with 'No' or ending in 'ah' if you're using Noah.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 15:45:38

I wasn't specifically looking for matching names, but the names that we both like just seem to match confused

MrsGradyOldLady Fri 04-Dec-15 15:48:08

I've got twins and I specifically chose non matchy names. Don't do it. They already get treated as part of a matching pair by many many people.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 15:49:48

Are yours different genders? I feel like you can get away with it more if they are!

MrsGradyOldLady Fri 04-Dec-15 15:53:50

Yes they are. They're so different in terms of both looks and personality that they don't even look related. They're 15 now so have totally different friends and a lot of people don't know they're twins at school.

When they were young though they were always put in the same classes, invited to the same parties, put in the same groups etc. A lot of people called them "the twins". I think all this forced togetherness wax quite hard for them and is probably the reason that they actually can't stand each other now grin

Allalonenow Fri 04-Dec-15 15:53:51

Yes I agree with you that it's too close to MIL's name.
I like Noelle, but not sure about Noelle and Noah.

On the other hand, once they are grown up, have left school etc, they really won't be "The Twins" any longer, so maybe it's over thinking to worry about the names being too similar, and you should just go with names that you love? fsmile

MrsGradyOldLady Fri 04-Dec-15 15:57:06

I think I didn't help the situation either though as I enrolled them in a lot of the same after school activities and never asked for them to be split up. I think I always hoped they'd eventually find something they had in common other than parents. Didn't happen.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 15:58:19

Yeah smile I think it's between Leah & Noah - Noelle & Noah...

MrsJayy Fri 04-Dec-15 16:01:11

I think leah and Noah are lovely together easy to say nice names that are not twee matchy.

MrsJayy Fri 04-Dec-15 16:03:27

Noelle and Noah is a mouthful imo

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 16:04:39

Noelle was DP's favourite, I prefer Leah

MrsJayy Fri 04-Dec-15 16:08:37

Get him to say them out loud and see how they sound together you will be introducing them as a set for a few years I prefer Leah and Noah Noah/Leah sounds better than Noah/Noelle

Allalonenow Fri 04-Dec-15 16:08:40

Well Leah and Noah would be my choice.

Unless they are born on Christmas Day, in which case Noelle would be irresistible!! thanks fsmile

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut Fri 04-Dec-15 16:10:02

Love Leah. How about Leah and Nate? (Nate is often short for Nathaniel if you want a proper name)

I think Leah and Noah is getting a bit Biblical/matchy-matchy.

Lara and Noah?

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 16:13:00

I love Noah and couldn't change that - I was thinking 3 other names, but Noah is the one! Leah goes will, IMO - other option was Hailey or Darcie

Junoandthepeacock Fri 04-Dec-15 16:13:23

How about Layla.

Bluesicles Fri 04-Dec-15 16:14:07

I do like Layla
