Too utterly utter?

Love the nn Zeb as does DH and he rather unexpectedly said that he had fallen for Zebedee last night (having initially vetoed a couple of months ago). He's not keen on Zebediah which I guess would be the most 'sensible' alternative.

We already have a DS with a name that's not particularly unusual but hardly encountered on a daily basis. We think it would go well with Zebedee/Zeb so that's not a consideration...

Christ, no.

Unless you are Amish. Then go for it. And get off the internet.

Does he have springs instead of legs?*

*only the old will understand that, probably

I'm not a fan, but if you think it's the perfect name, I'm not going to stop you! However, I would try and find a different name that you both agree on :)

Yes, love it.

I know someone with the Christian name Zebedee.

He uses his middle name.

DH vetoed Zebediah for Amishness...

Zeb is the first suggestion he's made other than 'Jake' which leaves me beyond cold.

Zachary any good? (Although I think you should go for Zeb)

MrsLeighHalfpenny we do get the springy leg association but are only just old enough to. By our reckoning this generation of babies won't have a scooby... But our parents will and we would anticipate backlash from the oldies!

Is Sebastian, nn Seb any better?

There was a Magic Roundabout film in 2005 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Roundabout_(film)

It is one of those classic British children's TV institutions that keeps being returned to and remade, like Noddy or Bill and Ben. I don't understand the 'you'll only have heard of it if you're old' suggestion in this case. Everybody has heard of the Magic Roundabout!

Zen is great, and Zebediah is fine. Go for it!

I like it. I also love Zephaniah

Sebastian's are two a penny round here with several baby Sebs across our friendship groups. And it makes me think of the fish...

Zachary/Zachariah have been long listed in the past but neither of us love them.

My teenagers wouldn't know the Magic Roundabout characters, I'm certain. Anyway, it hasn't done the name Florence any harm.

I know a Zebedee. He's in my son's class and is 8.

I think the first time his mum shouted him across the playground everyone did a wtf face but now it's just normal. The kids have no idea what the adults are on about with the magic roundabout references.

Most of them call him Zeb for short.

Err no, unless of course you're expecting a baby zebra. Grin.

Magic Roundabout will be back - will probably be the next blockbuster!

God I hope not, it was the most tedious programme i endured as a child, and we only watched about 10 minutes of the later film. Dire.

Haven't encountered Zephaniah, NoAmani. I'll put that to OH!

What about Ezekiel? Zeek for short

Report
Floggingmolly · 18/11/2015 13:01

Why attention seek like that when naming your child? He's the one who has to live with it. And be honest, wanting to call your child Zebedee is pure "look how cool I am".

Report
JasperDamerel · 18/11/2015 13:05

It didn't do Zeb Soanes any harm.
