Too utterly utter?

Love the nn Zeb as does DH and he rather unexpectedly said that he had fallen for Zebedee last night (having initially vetoed a couple of months ago). He's not keen on Zebediah which I guess would be the most 'sensible' alternative.

We already have a DS with a name that's not particularly unusual but hardly encountered on a daily basis. We think it would go well with Zebedee/Zeb so that's not a consideration...

Christ, no.

Unless you are Amish. Then go for it. And get off the internet.

MrsLeighHalfpenny Wed 18-Nov-15 12:28:50

Does he have springs instead of legs?*

*only the old will understand that, probably

FrostyRose Wed 18-Nov-15 12:29:37

I'm not a fan, but if you think it's the perfect name, I'm not going to stop you! However, I would try and find a different name that you both agree on smile

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 18-Nov-15 12:30:43

Yes, love it.

TillyTolly Wed 18-Nov-15 12:31:15

DH vetoed Zebediah for Amishness...

Zeb is the first suggestion he's made other than 'Jake' which leaves me beyond cold.

LBOCS2 Wed 18-Nov-15 12:31:08

I know someone with the Christian name Zebedee.

He uses his middle name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 18-Nov-15 12:32:43

Zachary any good? (Although I think you should go for Zeb)

TillyTolly Wed 18-Nov-15 12:33:39

MrsLeighHalfpenny we do get the springy leg association but are only just old enough to. By our reckoning this generation of babies won't have a scooby... But our parents will and we would anticipate backlash from the oldies!

SoWhite Wed 18-Nov-15 12:34:27

Is Sebastian, nn Seb any better?

JasperDamerel Wed 18-Nov-15 12:35:59

Zen is great, and Zebediah is fine. Go for it!

SoWhite Wed 18-Nov-15 12:35:47

There was a Magic Roundabout film in 2005 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Roundabout_(film)

It is one of those classic British children's TV institutions that keeps being returned to and remade, like Noddy or Bill and Ben. I don't understand the 'you'll only have heard of it if you're old' suggestion in this case. Everybody has heard of the Magic Roundabout!

NoArmaniNoPunani Wed 18-Nov-15 12:36:38

I like it. I also love Zephaniah

TillyTolly Wed 18-Nov-15 12:38:24

Sebastian's are two a penny round here with several baby Sebs across our friendship groups. And it makes me think of the fish...

Zachary/Zachariah have been long listed in the past but neither of us love them.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 18-Nov-15 12:38:47

My teenagers wouldn't know the Magic Roundabout characters, I'm certain. Anyway, it hasn't done the name Florence any harm.

PittacusLore Wed 18-Nov-15 12:39:14

Time for bed

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Wed 18-Nov-15 12:41:37

Err no, unless of course you're expecting a baby zebra. grin.

GastonsChestHair Wed 18-Nov-15 12:41:33

I know a Zebedee. He's in my son's class and is 8.

I think the first time his mum shouted him across the playground everyone did a wtf face but now it's just normal. The kids have no idea what the adults are on about with the magic roundabout references.

Most of them call him Zeb for short.

Sophronia Wed 18-Nov-15 12:42:31

I like Zebedee, and Zeb is a great nn!

MrsLeighHalfpenny Wed 18-Nov-15 12:52:40

Magic Roundabout will be back - will probably be the next blockbuster!

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 18-Nov-15 12:54:30

God I hope not, it was the most tedious programme i endured as a child, and we only watched about 10 minutes of the later film. Dire.

TillyTolly Wed 18-Nov-15 12:54:59

Haven't encountered Zephaniah, NoAmani. I'll put that to OH!

MrsLeighHalfpenny Wed 18-Nov-15 13:00:32

probably hijacking this thread I loved the Magic Roundabout, especially Dylan and Ermintrude.

Boing!

ThisFenceIsComfy Wed 18-Nov-15 13:00:56

What about Ezekiel? Zeek for short

Floggingmolly Wed 18-Nov-15 13:01:21

Why attention seek like that when naming your child? He's the one who has to live with it. And be honest, wanting to call your child Zebedee is pure "look how cool I am".
