Girls names.

Arwen or Edith.

One is my favourite, one is DHs favourite.

Boys names baffle me, I cant find any that I like, let alone love.

DC due February. This is our first (and only) DC together. I have 2DDs from PR and he has 1DS from PR.

Arwen is a little harsh to my ears. I like Edith very much.

I think Arwen is a little lentil-weavery. Not mad keen on Edith either. Edie maybe?

Edith is my name Grin

It was my Great Grans name, she died a few years ago, just after DD2 was born. She was 98 Shock and one of my favourite people.

Its currently the only name I love.

I also like (but dont love)

Nora/Norah (which is correct?!)
Lorelai
Willow

Gran was always called Edie. However, I have a cousin whos DD is named Evie. I barely see them but still, too similar?

I think they're both lovely names . Could you maybe use both? I think Edith with a middle name of Arwen works well

And what about Eden for a boy?

Edith is lovely and Edie/Eadie too. Not keen on Arwen. I agree that boys names are so much harder!

Edith is a strong name and it's nice to have a family link. Edie is cute and I think would suit better than Edith in the younger years as Edith does sound a bit grown up.

I don't think it's a problem having a friend's DD called Evie, they're similar but not identical by any means and if you only see them occasionally it's not going to be problem.

Edie is lovey - far prefer it to Edith.

Arwen is pretty but a bit too, 'Notice my literary/hippy credentials' for me.

I much prefer Edith.

I completely agree, boys names are a nightmare for dh and me x

I like them both, but prefer Anwen to Arwen. (Arwen is a bit too Lord of the Rings.) And really like Norah.

I don't see a problem with Evie/Edie as her 'real name' of Edith is clearly different.

What about Edan/Eadan for a boy? (Means fire in Gaelic). Or Eddie (similar sound to Edie). Or Ardell (Scottish and has similar sound to Arwen).

Edith/Edie is ok since you have a family connection. Prefer Arwen (I appear to be in the minority!)

Willow Edith

I love arwen, especially if you have welsh connections.

Edith is still a bit 'old ladyish' to me. Maybe because there are no little Ediths around here.

Edie is cute, but I would expect it to be a nn for something.

Eddie is also cute, but again I would expect it to be a nn...

Have you considered any bible names for boys?

Daniel
James
Matthew
Paul

Classic, timeless boyish names!

Arwen sounds male to me. And Edith is very popular at the moment (Downton effect?) which puts me off a bit.

Might you like Dulcie, Celia, Romily, Gwennan or Elin?

I love Edith, and agree with pp Edith arwen sounds lovely together.
I'm one of those annoying people that shorten everyone's name - Edie is gorgeous & I wouldn't worry about your cousin, its different and they won't be close so its fine.
Make sure your ok with the shortenings (as they tend to happen) Wen sounds odd to me.
And as much as i love willow, there was a girl in my class named as such. She got called will....which lead to her being called willy for quite a long time.

Oh the same lines, what about Eddie for a boy?
Edward was one of my top name contenders :)
